Put the shed in the same area as the station you want to run—a shed outdoors supplies yard equipment, while the kitchen oven inside the house needs its own indoor shed. Furnace and Kiln costs were rebalanced in update 1.008, so check each station’s current recipe display for the amount it needs.
How to make Fuel
- Unlock and build a Firewood Shed. An unofficial game-data reference lists the Firewood Shed I unlock under Bronze Melting and a build cost of 10 Sticks and 2 Bronze Nails. Check the current technology and building menus in your game if those details differ; recipes can change between builds. See the Firewood Shed reference.
- Put Firewood into the shed. The documented conversion is 2 Firewood for 20 Fuel. Firewood Shed I is listed with a capacity of 100 Fuel. These figures come from an unofficial game-data wiki inspected October 8, 2026. See the Fuel reference.
- Place the shed in the station’s area. Fuel is supplied by area, not by directly loading Firewood into the machine.
- Check the station recipe. Open the recipe you want to craft and use its displayed Fuel requirement rather than relying on an older guide.
Where to place a Firewood Shed
Furnace, Kiln, and other yard equipment
Put a Firewood Shed in the yard area to supply yard stations such as the Furnace and Kiln. The documented rule is that equipment draws Fuel from a shed in its area; a shed elsewhere will not serve it.

Kitchen oven inside the house
The indoor kitchen oven needs a Firewood Shed inside the house. An outdoor shed does not supply it, so build a separate shed indoors if you want to use that oven. A third-party guide for PC update 1.007 also describes this indoor placement requirement, but it predates the later fuel-cost rebalance. Read the PC 1.007 placement guide.

Troubleshoot a station that will not run
- The kitchen oven has no Fuel: Check whether the Firewood Shed is inside the house; an outdoor shed will not supply the indoor oven.
- The Furnace or Kiln will not run: Confirm a shed is in the yard area, that it contains Fuel, and that the current recipe’s Fuel requirement is met.
- The shed recipe or construction cost differs: Use the technology and building screens in your current game. The listed unlock and build details come from an unofficial reference, and a later game build may differ.
