Gradiant says it has secured five new design-build contracts in India for semiconductor, printed circuit board (PCB) and solar manufacturing. The 7 October 2026 announcement describes work involving ultrapure water, wastewater treatment and zero-liquid-discharge (ZLD) systems, but does not identify the customers or disclose contract values. One award is a repeat order from a global chipmaker expanding a fab.

What are the five new contracts for?

The awards cover three manufacturing sectors: semiconductors, PCBs and solar. Gradiant describes them as design-build contracts, with work spanning ultrapure-water production, wastewater treatment and ZLD. The announcement does not provide a project-by-project breakdown, so it is not possible to match a particular treatment system or scope to each award.

  • Semiconductors: The announcement includes a repeat award from a global chipmaker that is expanding its fab. The customer is not named.
  • PCB manufacturing: PCB plants are included among the sectors covered, but no customer or individual project details are disclosed.
  • Solar manufacturing: Solar is also named as a contract area; the announcement gives no customer-specific scope.

Gradiant CEO Prakash Govindan said India is becoming an important place to build the AI supply chain, citing chips, circuit boards and solar cells. That is the company’s stated rationale for its focus, rather than a disclosed description of the five customers’ projects.

What is known—and not known—about the awards?

Gradiant’s announcement confirms the number of awards, broad industry coverage and general treatment capabilities. It does not name the five customers, publish contract values, provide delivery schedules or assign precise technical scopes to individual projects. As a result, the awards cannot be meaningfully compared by price, capacity or timeline.

The contract-win details are sourced to Gradiant’s 7 October 2026 announcement; no independent customer confirmation is included in the available account. The announcement’s business outlook is also a company projection, not a reported result: Managing Director, India Hari Prasad said orders were on track to more than double in 2026, with revenue set to more than triple.

How the new awards differ from Gradiant’s Gujarat fab project

The five contracts are new awards announced in October 2026. They should not be conflated with a separate semiconductor-fab water project in Gujarat that Gradiant says was already online in March 2026.

In its case study for the Gujarat project, Gradiant reports an ultrapure-water system capacity of 4,000 m³/day and 96% system recovery. The company describes the project as an integrated package of ultrapure-water production, wastewater recycling and ZLD, delivered under a design-build-operate model. These figures and performance descriptions apply to that earlier project; they are not specifications for the five newly announced contracts, and the case study is company-reported rather than an independent performance audit.

India leadership and planned hiring

Gradiant appointed Hari Prasad Managing Director, India, to lead growth across semiconductors, data centers and energy. The company says he brings nearly 30 years of water-technology leadership experience. Most recently, he was General Manager, Industrial Water at Pentair, after senior roles across India, the Middle East and Africa.

Gradiant also said it plans to expand its India team by more than 40% during 2026. Planned hiring spans engineering, project execution, operations and digital roles, including at the company’s Gradiant Engineering Center in Coimbatore. This is an announced hiring plan, not a statement that the expansion has already been completed.
