Neither GrabzIt nor Urlbox is a universal winner. Start with the output you need: GrabzIt documents a broader conversion and extraction suite, including DOCX and table extraction; Urlbox documents screenshot, PDF, video, text, and metadata workflows, with render links and synchronous or asynchronous API requests. Compare the controls and billing rules against representative pages and your expected volume before choosing.
What each service can capture
| Need | GrabzIt | Urlbox |
|---|---|---|
| Inputs and capture | Its materials describe URL, HTML, and file capture, including screenshots. | Its documentation describes URL and HTML rendering. |
| Outputs and extraction | Documented outputs include screenshots, PDF, DOCX, video, rendered HTML, and table extraction. | Documented outputs include screenshots, PDF, and video, plus text, HTML, and metadata extraction. |
| Capture controls | Documentation includes full-page and element capture, image formats, browser options, country and proxy settings, and options to suppress ads or cookie notices. | Documentation describes responsive, full-page, and element-level screenshots, custom JavaScript, and other rendering options. |
| Integration patterns | Libraries for several languages and REST access are documented. API use requires an application key and secret. | Offers render links and JSON API requests, with synchronous and asynchronous modes. Its quickstart recommends secure render links in production. |
These are vendor-documented capabilities, not a controlled comparison of capture accuracy or success rates. GrabzIt’s screenshot API page and API overview describe its workflows; Urlbox’s documentation describes its rendering and extraction options.

Which one fits your workflow?
Consider GrabzIt for conversion-heavy workflows
Investigate GrabzIt if screenshots are one step in a broader pipeline that also needs formats such as DOCX, rendered HTML, video, or table extraction. Its Node.js documentation lists country and proxy options and controls related to ads or cookie notices; confirm against your own target pages rather than assuming a setting will work uniformly across third-party sites. See the GrabzIt Node.js technical documentation.
Consider Urlbox for its documented rendering and request patterns
Urlbox may map more directly to a workflow that uses signed render links, JSON calls, or asynchronous capture. The quickstart describes a mobile-sized viewport and thumbnail output, and explains that render-link tokens are HMAC-SHA256 signatures over render options made with the secret key. Read the Urlbox quickstart before building a production URL-signing flow.
#1 Best Overall
Urlbox’s product page advertises more than 100 rendering options and SDKs for several languages. It also lists SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliance claims. If those claims matter to procurement or a formal security review, request current supporting documentation and contractual details directly; marketing statements alone do not establish that your specific requirements are met. The same page reports 800M+ screenshots rendered for over 1,700 customers, with no year stated; those are vendor-reported figures, not independent verification. See the Urlbox screenshot API product page.
Check site-owner permissions and request identification
Before sending captures to either service, verify that your intended use is permitted by the target site’s terms and your organization’s policies. Urlbox says its render requests are customer-initiated and documents request signing; it also cautions that user-agent strings can be spoofed. A user-agent alone is therefore not proof of request identity. See About the Urlbox bot.

Compare cost using the same workload
Urlbox’s pricing page, accessed October 3, 2026, listed the following monthly prices and allowances. It says prices exclude VAT. Plans may count usage differently: render duration, file size, archive storage, GPU acceleration, and features can affect usage, and some requests can consume more than one render unit. The page describes Lo-Fi as suited to websites the customer owns and lists different restrictions or allowances for third-party sites by tier. Check the current terms and your eligibility before estimating spend.

See Urlbox pricing for current plan terms. The reviewed GrabzIt materials establish a 7-day trial but do not establish a comparable current price table, so this evidence does not support saying either service is cheaper. Do not treat one provider’s render allowance as equivalent to the other’s without checking what counts as a render and how your capture settings affect it.

Test before choosing
Both vendors describe 7-day trials. GrabzIt says its trial does not require a credit card and that trial API images carry a GrabzIt watermark. Urlbox also describes a 7-day trial. Confirm the current trial terms with each provider.
- Choose representative pages. Include ordinary pages and difficult cases from your actual workflow: client-rendered pages, authenticated views, geographic variants, and pages with consent notices or other overlays.
- Define the expected output. Test the required image, document, video, or extracted data format, plus viewport, full-page or element capture, and any relevant delay or script behavior.
- Exercise the integration path. For Urlbox, test whether render links or synchronous/asynchronous JSON requests better suit the application. For GrabzIt, verify the REST or library flow and the required key and secret handling.
- Measure usage with realistic settings. Record the number and complexity of requests and review each provider’s usage rules. For Urlbox, account for factors the pricing page says may change render-unit consumption.
- Review operational requirements directly. Validate credentials, request controls, data handling, service-level terms, and any security or compliance documentation your organization requires.
Performance and reliability: what is not established
The available product materials do not provide a controlled head-to-head test of speed, reliability, or image quality. They also do not establish comparative success rates for geographic capture, overlays, or difficult client-rendered pages. Treat vendor capability descriptions and vendor-reported figures as claims, and use your own representative test set to determine whether either service meets your needs.

ScreenshotNeo: an alternative to try first
If you are open to a third option, start with ScreenshotNeo: it removes known cookie-consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; only clean shots are billed; and it has an MCP server for AI agents.
For a direct API test, replace the example URL with a page you are authorized to capture and supply your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for parameters and options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
A clean capture is billed; bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not. Responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. The MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up free for 1,000 screenshots a month, no card required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Did anyone independently test which service produces better screenshots?
No controlled speed, reliability, or image-quality comparison is established here. Test both against representative pages from your own workflow.
Can Urlbox identify its render requests using only a user-agent string?
Its bot page cautions that user-agent strings can be spoofed; review its documented signing mechanism rather than relying on that string as proof.
