For US buyers, the Pixel 10a is harder to recommend at its reported new prices: Android Authority reported on October 2, 2026, that the 128GB model rose from $499 to $599 and the 256GB model from $599 to $699 at the Google Store, Amazon and Best Buy. Google had not commented on the change in that report. The higher price does not erase the 10a’s strengths, but it makes the Pixel 10’s newer processor and telephoto camera more relevant to the comparison.
What changed in the Pixel 10a’s price?
Google announced the Pixel 10a on February 18, 2026, with a US starting price of $499. On October 2, Android Authority reported that prices had increased by $100: the 128GB model was listed at $599 and the 256GB model at $699 at the Google Store, Amazon and Best Buy. These are reported US prices, not an explanation from Google; the company had not commented on the change in the report. What does the Pixel 10a offer?
The 10a has a 6.3-inch Actua display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and peak brightness of 3,000 nits, according to Google’s specifications. Google also commits to seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates. That long support window and smooth, bright screen remain meaningful benefits, particularly for someone who plans to keep a phone for several years. They do not, by themselves, make the new price competitive.
How does it compare with the Pixel 10?
A March comparison lists the Pixel 10a with Tensor G4 and 8GB of RAM, while the Pixel 10 has Tensor G5 and 12GB. It also lists wide and ultrawide rear cameras on the 10a, versus a Pixel 10 camera system that adds a telephoto lens. The telephoto camera offers a type of framing flexibility the 10a does not provide. When does the Pixel 10a still make sense?
The 10a can still be the better fit if its price is meaningfully below the Pixel 10’s current price and you value the display and seven-year update commitment more than the Pixel 10’s newer chip and telephoto camera. If the two phones are close in price for equivalent storage, the Pixel 10’s listed hardware advantages deserve serious weight. Neither choice is automatically best for everyone: the right call depends on the actual offer and which features matter to you.
Check the offer, not just the list price
A September deal article reported an unlocked Pixel 10a offer at $424, but that was a historical promotion, not a verified current price. The September deal report is useful only as evidence that discounts have occurred. Before buying, compare the same storage tier and distinguish a straightforward unlocked price from a trade-in credit, financing offer, or carrier-restricted deal. Retail prices, stock and terms can change; verify them with the seller at checkout. Google’s product manager Laura Kastilani described A-series phones as offering helpful features at an accessible price point, but that is Google’s positioning, not independent evidence that the current price is good value.

Should you consider an older Pixel instead?
A Pixel 9a may be a lower-cost alternative if it is still available at a genuinely lower current price, but its present price and availability are not established here. Compare current listings and storage, rather than assuming an older model is cheaper or in stock. The same rule applies to the 10a: a substantial, uncomplicated discount could restore its appeal, while a small saving over the Pixel 10 may not compensate for giving up the newer processor and telephoto camera.
