Google says trusted cybersecurity defenders in its Fairwind Program and Google’s own internal teams will get Gemini 4 Argon without cyber guardrails. The company announced the model on September 30, 2026, but has not given a firm date for general release.
Who gets Gemini 4 Argon first?
The first rollout is limited to a set of trusted cyber defenders participating in Google’s Fairwind Program and to Google internal teams. Google has not named the participating defenders or described how organizations qualify for the program.

Google DeepMind SVP and chief AI architect Koray Kavukcuoglu said trusted defenders and Google’s internal teams would receive Argon “without cyber guardrails” so they could use its full frontier-level cybersecurity defense capabilities. Google says Argon can autonomously find, validate, and patch critical software vulnerabilities.
#1 Best Overall
- A FIDO security key with PUF technology provides a unique, hardware-rooted trust anchor that resists tampering and cyber attacks, offering stronger security than conventional designs.
- FIDO2 Certified Protection – Enjoy phishing-resistant security with FIDO2 certification, ensuring top-tier account safety across Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS iOS, Android and more.
- Easy to use & Portable – Designed with a compact USB-C interface, Clife key fits easily on your keychain for secure access anywhere. Simply plug in and authenticate with ease.
- Universal Compatibility – Works seamlessly with hundreds of FIDO2/U2F compliant services, including popular cloud, email, and social platforms.
- Backup recommended – To ensure continuous access, register a backup Clife security key as a spare in case your primary key is lost.
The stated exception is limited to those trusted groups. Google has not said that the same policy will apply to broader access, or detailed in the announcement exactly which cyber-specific restrictions will be absent. It is therefore more accurate to describe this as a controlled release for designated defenders than as a general removal of safeguards.
Why is Google doing this?
The stated aim is to let defenders use the model’s full capabilities to identify and address software vulnerabilities. That creates a safety challenge: capabilities useful for defense could also be misused. Google says it is strengthening protections against cyber or chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) misuse, indirect prompt injection, and insecure agent environments, and is conducting internal and external red-team testing.

Those ongoing safeguards work and the restricted no-cyber-guardrails rollout are separate parts of Google’s announcement: the latter applies to the trusted groups named by the company, while the broader release remains subject to safeguards development.
