The Pixel 80% charging limit is available now on Pixel 6a and later. To enable it, go to Settings > Battery > Battery health > Charging optimization, turn on Use charging optimization, and select Limit to 80%. Android 15 began rolling out to Pixel devices on October 15, 2024, but Google’s sources do not establish one first-availability date for every supported model.
When did the Pixel 80% charging limit arrive?
The setting is no longer an upcoming Android 15 feature. Google’s current support instructions list it for Pixel 6a and later. Android 15 release notes dated November 12, 2024, document a fix for an issue that prevented the option from being enabled; that does not prove every supported phone received it on that date.

Adaptive Charging or Limit to 80%?
| Setting | How it works | Charge when unplugged |
|---|---|---|
| Adaptive Charging | Learns charging habits and times the final charge around the expected unplug time. | Aims for 100%. |
| Limit to 80% | Caps charging to prioritize long-term battery health. | Usually stops at 80%, with a periodic full-charge exception. |
Google says Adaptive Charging may need about 14 days to learn your charging habits. It is a different feature from the explicit 80% cap.
What to expect from the 80% limit
Limiting charging is intended to prioritize battery longevity, but Google’s reviewed support information does not quantify how much it extends battery life. The setting can mean less charge available when you unplug, so Google suggests using it if you usually end the day with charge remaining. Turn it off when you need more battery life.
