Removing it in the app affects that device; removing it on the Wallet website removes the payment method from your account, though a device copy may remain.
Google’s current help pages call the app and website Google Wallet. The steps below follow Google’s documented routes; labels and payment features can vary by region.

Remove a card from the Google Wallet app on one phone
Use this option when you want to remove the card from the Wallet app on the phone in your hand. Google describes this as a device-specific removal, so the card may remain in your Google Account or on other devices. Google Wallet Help
- Open the Google Wallet app.
- Find the card. If it is not the first card shown, swipe left to locate it.
- Tap the card.
- Tap More in the top-right corner.
- Tap Remove payment method.
Remove a payment method from your Google Account
For account-level removal, use the Google Wallet website. Google says this removes the payment method from your Google Account, but it may not remove it from the Wallet app on a device. Google Wallet Help

- Go to wallet.google.com and sign in.
- Choose Payment methods.
- Select the card or payment method.
- Choose Remove.
If the card still appears on a device
On the Wallet website, open Payment methods, select the card, open the More menu for the listed device, and choose Remove from device. Removing it from a device stops tap-to-pay use on that device; the card may still be available for online purchases and Google services such as YouTube or the Play Store. Google Wallet Help
Google’s separate payments help page also describes removal through Payment methods and Remove. If account and device removal seem to differ, use the Wallet website’s device list to check for a remaining device copy. Google payments help

Remove a card saved for Chrome autofill
Chrome payment info managed through Google Wallet is handled separately from the card shown in the Wallet app. Google documents these steps for Android and iPhone or iPad:

- Find the card and tap Remove.
Turning off Chrome’s Payment methods, offers and addresses using Google Wallet setting stops saving or syncing payment information through that Chrome account setting. Know what card removal does—and does not do
Removing the payment method, deleting payment-related activity, and clearing local Wallet data are separate actions. Google says removing a payment method from the Wallet website is part of deleting payment-related transaction activity for that method; related activity may also need deletion through My Activity. Google may retain some information for business or legal requirements or to provide essential Google Pay services. Google Wallet Help
For Android device data, Google separately instructs users to remove payment methods from Google Wallet and then clear the Google Wallet app’s storage and cache in Android Settings. Clearing local storage is not a substitute for removing the payment method from the account. Google Wallet Help

These card-removal steps do not establish that the underlying bank card account is closed, that subscriptions or scheduled payments are canceled, or that all transaction history is erased. Contact the card issuer for questions about the card account itself.
