Yes. Google’s NotebookLM mobile app lets you work with notebook sources, ask questions, listen to Audio Overviews, and use study and visual tools from an Android phone, tablet, iPhone, or iPad. It does not include every desktop feature, and Google says availability is rolling out gradually by country. Google’s current Help Center uses the name “Gemini Notebook”; its May 2025 app announcement called the product “NotebookLM.”
What can you do in the NotebookLM mobile app?
The app is designed for working with information you provide, rather than as a general-purpose chatbot. You can create or open notebooks, add supported materials, ask questions grounded in those sources, and generate study or presentation aids in Studio.

Add sources and ask questions
Google’s mobile guide documents five source types: PDFs, websites, YouTube videos, audio files, and copied text. You can also share a website, PDF, or YouTube video from another app into an existing notebook. A quick-search option finds web sources that you can review and import.

In Chat, the app shows a generated summary of a notebook’s sources. You can ask a question or give an instruction, and use the source selector to control which sources inform the response. Chat history remains until you delete it.

Listen, study, or make visual materials
The Studio area includes Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, flashcards, quizzes, infographics, and slide decks, according to Google’s current mobile guide. The best feature depends on what you need: a question answered, material to listen to, or something to help review or present the source content.

Can you listen to Audio Overviews offline?
Yes. Google’s help guide says you can download Audio Overviews for offline access within the app. That means you can play them later without a connection; it does not mean the app exports a standalone audio file that you can move to another player. Audio playback can continue in the background, which is useful when switching to another app or locking your screen.

Google also identifies Interactive Mode, which lets listeners join the AI hosts, as a beta feature available in English. Availability or behavior may change as Google updates the app.
How does mobile differ from desktop?
The mobile app is useful for source-based questions, listening, and reviewing or presenting generated materials, but Google explicitly says it does not support every source type or feature and recommends desktop for the full experience. The current mobile guide lists these unavailable functions:

- Chat configurations and chat analytics.
- Generating or viewing notes, mind maps, reports, and data tables.
- A Featured notebooks tab. Featured notebooks opened through a URL may still appear on the home page.
These specific gaps are more useful to check than treating the mobile app as simply a reduced version of desktop: the core mobile workflow is documented, while particular source types and tools may require the web experience.
How to get started on a phone
- Install or open the app: Google’s May 19, 2025 launch announcement listed Android 10 or later and iOS 17 or later. Google’s current guide supports Android phones and tablets running Android 10 or later. Check the relevant app-store listing for current device requirements and local availability.
- Create or open a notebook: Start a notebook for the material you want to explore, or open an existing one.
- Add material: Add a PDF, website, YouTube video, audio file, or copied text. For a website, PDF, or YouTube video in another app, use that app’s share function to send it to an existing notebook.
- Ask or generate: Use Chat for questions and instructions, or open Studio for Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, flashcards, quizzes, infographics, or slide decks.
- Prepare audio for a trip: Download an Audio Overview inside the app while connected if you want offline playback later.
Who can use the app, and where is it available?
Google announced Android and iOS apps on May 19, 2025. Its launch post specified Android 10+ and iOS 17+ requirements. Google’s current mobile help page says the app is rolling out gradually across countries and territories, so meeting the operating-system requirement does not guarantee that it will appear in every region immediately. Check your local store listing and Google’s current mobile guide for availability.

The naming differs across Google’s materials: the 2025 announcement used “NotebookLM,” while the current Help Center page is titled and branded “Gemini Notebook.” The current page remains within Google’s NotebookLM help experience and describes the same notebooks and mobile app, not a separately announced mobile product.

Google warns that Chat responses and generated artifacts—including voices, videos, flashcards, and quizzes—may contain inaccuracies; audio may also have glitches. Treat them as aids for navigating and reviewing your material, not as authoritative substitutes for it. Check important claims against the original sources in the notebook.

Google also notes that syncing across devices can sometimes be delayed. If a change is not appearing on your phone, its suggested first step is to quit and relaunch the mobile app.
Do you need a paid plan?
Google One’s current benefits page says Google AI Pro provides higher NotebookLM limits and lists up to 300 sources per notebook. It says that benefit is available on web and mobile in countries where Google AI Pro and NotebookLM are available. That figure describes the AI Pro source limit; it is not a complete comparison of free and paid usage quotas. Google’s benefits page does not establish all current daily limits.
