If your organization already runs on Microsoft 365, start with Teams; if you need a broad, standalone meeting service, consider Zoom; and if open-source software or self-hosting matters most, evaluate Jitsi Meet. Webex, Whereby, Zoho Meeting, BigBlueButton, Discord, Signal, and RingCentral are options for more specific needs.
Choose by the work you need the service to do—not by a universal ranking. Your existing software suite, guest access, free-plan limits, recording and AI features, administration requirements, and total cost can matter more than a feature checklist.

How to choose a Google Meet alternative
Start with the setting in which meetings happen. A team that already pays for a productivity suite may get more value from using its included meeting service than from adding another platform. A teacher, community moderator, or organization with self-hosting requirements has different priorities.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Check your existing suite. Compare what your Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 plan already includes before pricing a separate service.
- Define the meeting. Distinguish scheduled business calls with outside guests from internal collaboration, classes, community voice chat, or phone service.
- Test access for guests. Confirm whether participants can join in a browser, whether they need an account or app, and how room links work.
- Verify the plan limits you will actually hit. Check group-call duration, participant caps, recording, and AI-note availability on the relevant vendor plan.
- Account for administration and responsibility. Consider enterprise controls, security review, privacy needs, and—if self-hosting—who will operate and maintain the service.
- Compare total cost. Include existing subscriptions, add-ons, billing cadence, and regional pricing rather than comparing headline entry prices alone.
Plan details change and can vary by region and billing arrangement. The secondary comparisons reviewed for this guide reported checks from June through August 2026; those dates do not establish current October 2026 prices or limits. Verify details on the vendor’s own plan pages before choosing.

Which alternative fits your situation?
| Candidate | Consider it when | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Zoom Meetings | You want a broad, general-purpose meeting service, particularly for calls with external participants. | Compare the specific plan’s meeting, recording, and administration features with your needs; feature depth does not establish that it is universally more reliable. |
| Microsoft Teams | Your organization already uses Microsoft 365 and wants meetings alongside chat and files. | Confirm what your Microsoft 365 plan includes and whether guest access and collaboration fit your workflows. |
| Cisco Webex | Your organization is evaluating enterprise administration, security review, or conference-room needs. | Map the required controls to the actual product and plan. Choosing Webex is not, by itself, a compliance guarantee. |
| Jitsi Meet | You prioritize a free/open-source option, browser use, or the possibility of self-hosting. | Decide who will operate a self-hosted deployment and assess its needs and performance in your own environment. |
| Whereby | You want a lightweight browser-based option with persistent room URLs and straightforward joining. | Recheck current plan limits and prices; the figures in one reviewed guide were dated July 2026. |
| Zoho Meeting | You are a small team considering a budget-oriented meeting service. | Verify current plan features and limits rather than relying on a guide’s reported restrictions. |
| BigBlueButton | You need teaching-oriented features for an online classroom. | Plan for a self-hosted or partner-hosted implementation and verify the hosting and operational requirements. |
| Discord | Your primary need is voice or video for an ongoing community. | Assess whether its community-oriented approach works for scheduled external business meetings. |
| Signal | You are considering calls in a privacy-focused messaging context. | Check whether its capabilities suit your meeting logistics; it is not positioned as a general business-meeting replacement. |
| RingCentral | You are evaluating phone service and video meetings together. | Verify current entry pricing, plan terms, and whether combining those services suits your organization. |
Best free Google Meet alternative
“Free” depends on the meeting you need to run. Jitsi Meet is the clearest candidate in these comparisons for users seeking a free, open-source option, while Zoom, Teams, and other services may make sense if their free or existing plans cover your particular use. Do not choose on the word “free” alone: a duration cap, participant limit, or missing recording feature can make a plan unsuitable.
Before switching, check the current vendor terms for group-call duration, participant cap, account or app requirements, recording, and any AI meeting features. The reviewed comparisons do not establish a fully verified set of current, region-specific limits for October 2026, so a numeric free-tier ranking would be misleading.
Rank #2
- Smart Voice Enhancement: Eliminate background noise while simultaneously enhancing voices for a professional meeting experience in any environment.
- Plug and Play: Connect via USB-C (includes standard USB adapter) and join meetings in an instant. A wired connection offers a stable and reliable USB speakerphone experience.
- 360° Voice Coverage: A USB speakerphone with 4 high-sensitivity microphones to pick up all voices within 3m in super-high clarity.
- Superior Sound: A 1.75” driver paired with 2 passive bass-radiators adds body and depth to both meeting audio and music.
- What’s In The Box: PowerConf S330 USB Speakerphone, USB-C to USB-A adapter.
Best open-source Google Meet alternative
Jitsi Meet is the strongest match in this shortlist if open-source software is the deciding requirement. Its cited strengths include browser use and the option to self-host. Those benefits come with a trade-off: self-hosting means the organization takes on operational decisions and responsibility, and quality at scale can depend on the deployment.
Open-source does not automatically mean that every deployment is private, secure, or effortless. Evaluate the instance you will use, who controls it, and who is responsible for keeping it running. If your organization cannot take on that work, compare other options against its actual administration and security requirements.

Alternatives for classrooms, communities, and phone service
For teaching
BigBlueButton is the classroom-oriented candidate in the reviewed list. Its teaching focus may suit educators better than a general meeting service, but the guide describes it as self-hosted or partner-hosted. Confirm how it will be deployed and supported before treating it as a ready-to-use replacement.
For communities
Discord may fit an ongoing community that wants voice or video in the same environment. It is a less natural substitute when the main job is formal, scheduled meetings with outside business guests.
Rank #4

For privacy-focused calls
Signal is worth considering in a privacy-focused messaging context, but the comparison does not position it as a full replacement for business meeting workflows. Check that its meeting logistics suit your participants and use case.
For phone and video together
RingCentral belongs on the shortlist when an organization is assessing phone service and video as a combined need. Compare the current service terms and total cost against the separate tools you would otherwise use.
Best Value

What to verify before moving from Google Meet
Compare the same use case and plan across vendors. In particular, confirm:
- Whether your existing suite already includes the meeting features you need.
- How external guests join, including browser availability and any account or app requirement.
- Current free-plan or paid-plan participant caps and call-duration rules for your region.
- Whether recording and AI notes are included, restricted to particular tiers, or sold as add-ons.
- Whether the administration and security controls meet your organization’s requirements.
- Who operates the service if you choose a self-hosted option, and what support is available for hosted alternatives.
- The full cost under your billing cadence, including any subscription or add-on you would not otherwise need.
Use the vendor’s current plan and product information for final confirmation. The dated 2026 figures in secondary guides are useful as comparison context, not a substitute for checking today’s terms.
