Yes. Gemini Live can use your Android phone or tablet’s camera for spoken, real-time help and can share your entire device screen for on-screen guidance. Camera access is provided through Guided Vision, which Google is rolling out gradually; screen sharing requires Gemini Live notifications and never shares only a selected window.
What Gemini can see and do
Camera view with Guided Vision
In a Gemini Live conversation, you can turn on the camera and ask questions about what the phone is seeing. Google documents examples such as reading fine print on food labels, distinguishing colors, interpreting menus in low light and helping locate household objects. Gemini responds through the ongoing spoken conversation rather than as a separate photo-analysis screen. Guided Vision is rolling out gradually, so it may not yet appear on every eligible account or device. See Google’s Android Help guidance.

Device-screen sharing
Gemini Live can also view what is displayed on your device. Google states: “When you share your screen, your full screen is shared with Gemini.” That means notifications, other apps and anything else visible can be included; there is no documented selected-window mode. Screen sharing is started from the Live screen in the Gemini mobile app, or, on some devices and situations, by opening Gemini outside the app and choosing “Share screen with Live.” Google notes that this outside-app option may be unavailable when another feature is considered more helpful. How to share your camera with Gemini Live
- On an Android phone or tablet, open the Gemini mobile app.
- Start a Gemini Live chat.
- Use the camera control in the Live conversation to turn on the camera.
- Ask your question aloud while pointing the camera at the relevant text, object or scene.
- Tap the camera control again when you want to stop sharing.
Camera sharing turns off automatically if you put Live on hold, leave the Gemini app or lock the screen. It resumes automatically only when Live continues from a hold. If you left the app or locked the device, you must turn the camera on again.

How to share your Android screen
- Enable Gemini Live notifications in your device settings; Google lists this as a requirement for screen sharing.
- Open the Gemini mobile app and start a Live chat.
- From the Live screen, choose the screen-sharing control and confirm the Android sharing prompt.
- If available on your device, you can instead open Gemini outside the app and select “Share screen with Live.”
- To stop, use the in-app stop control or the device’s screen-sharing notification.
Screen sharing stops when Live is put on hold or the screen locks. Unlike camera sharing, it does not resume automatically when Live continues or the screen is unlocked; start sharing again manually.

Availability can depend on the device, account, language and location, and Google’s mobile-app requirements may change. Privacy and safe use
- Inspect the camera view before turning it on; avoid including people or private documents unnecessarily.
- Because screen sharing includes the full screen, close or hide banking, password, health and private-message content first.
- Ask permission before recording or including other people in a Live chat, as Google advises.
- Use the in-app control or Android’s screen-sharing notification to end sharing immediately.
If the controls are missing
- Confirm that you are using the Gemini mobile app on a supported Android phone or tablet.
- For screen sharing, verify that Gemini Live notifications are enabled.
- Check your account, language and location against Google’s availability requirements.
- If Guided Vision is absent, it may not have reached your account yet; rollout access is not universal.
- After locking the screen or putting Live on hold, manually start screen sharing again.

Camera and screen sharing have different stop-and-resume rules, and access depends on Google’s device, account, language, location and rollout eligibility.
