Yes—but the headline needs a distinction: AlphaProof Nexus’s most capable agent resolved 9 of 353 attempted open Erdős problems, while a separate evaluation reports proofs of 44 of 492 OEIS conjectures. The paper was published in Science on October 8, 2026. “Dozens” describes the combined results across those different sets, not dozens of Erdős problems.
What AlphaProof Nexus is—and what it proved
AlphaProof Nexus is the name used for a formal proof-search framework described in the 2026 paper “Advancing Mathematics Research with AI-Driven Formal Proof Search.” The paper reports two distinct results, with separate problem categories and denominators:

| Evaluation set | Reported result | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Open Erdős problems | 9 of 353 attempted problems resolved | The paper attributes this result to its most capable agent; it is not a claim that 9 of all open Erdős problems were solved. |
| OEIS conjectures | 44 of 492 conjectures proved | This is a separate evaluation set and should not be added to the Erdős count as if all were the same kind of problem. |
The authors’ abstract says the agent resolved the Erdős problems “at the per-problem cost of a few hundred dollars” and says the system is being deployed in combinatorics, optimization, graph theory, algebraic geometry, and quantum optics research. That cost statement belongs to the paper’s reported setup; it should not be treated as a universal cost for mathematical discovery.

Was the AlphaProof Nexus paper peer reviewed?
Yes. The article record lists the paper in Science with a publication date of October 8, 2026. That establishes journal publication; it does not mean every proof or every interpretation of the results has been independently reproduced.

What formal verification establishes—and what it does not
The project’s public repository includes successful Lean proof artifacts alongside natural-language proofs. Lean is a proof assistant: when a proof is accepted against a formal statement, its encoded proof steps have been checked by the system.
That is meaningful evidence, but it is not the whole story. A machine-checked proof establishes the encoded statement, not automatically that the formalization faithfully captures the intended open problem, that the result is mathematically consequential, or that the AI originated every idea and surrounding step without human input. The repository says its displayed collection contains successful problems; attempted but unsolved problems are recorded separately. The published counts therefore matter alongside the artifacts, rather than being replaced by a list of successes.

How this differs from AlphaProof’s 2024 IMO result
AlphaProof, described in a separate 2025 Nature paper, is the earlier system associated with results at the 2024 International Mathematical Olympiad. That competition result and AlphaProof Nexus’s research-scale evaluations concern different systems, tasks, and problem sets. The reported figures here do not support a direct performance ranking between them.
