Yes. Google Ads lets advertisers preview sample AI-generated headlines and descriptions for a Search campaign before enabling text customization. The preview is available during AI Max campaign setup or when editing an existing campaign, and Google says it usually takes under 30 seconds to generate examples.
What the preview shows
Text customization is a campaign-level setting available through AI Max for Search campaigns. It uses campaign context—including the website domain, landing page, existing ads and ad-group keywords—to generate additional headlines and descriptions for responsive search ads. Google says it may draw on landing-page titles, descriptions and metadata, along with generative AI grounded in the page content. Google Ads Help explains text customization and its previews; its US-English guidance describes the feature’s campaign context and inputs.

The preview is a representative sample tied to the campaign and the landing page URL you provide, not a universal set of suggested ad copy. Google can generate up to 10 example assets. Seeing those examples does not turn text customization on.
How to preview examples
While creating an AI Max campaign
- Open the campaign’s Asset optimization section.
- Provide the final landing page URL if one is not already filled in.
- Review the examples generated for that URL. If no URL is prefilled, select Preview examples after entering one.
When editing an existing campaign
- Open the campaign’s generated asset preview.
- Review the sample headlines and descriptions.
Google says examples are generated in under 30 seconds in most cases. The preview is available in languages supported by text customization; the help page lists English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, German, Japanese and Dutch among them. Google also says examples can be checked for almost all standard business categories, with adult content excluded. See Google’s language and category details.

How text guidelines affect the preview
You can use text guidelines to exclude terms or steer away from themes. The preview filters examples according to those guidelines. If the rules are restrictive enough to block every possible asset, Google prompts you to adjust or remove them so examples can be generated.

- Verify the landing page. The generated copy draws on the page and campaign context, so keep the site content accurate and current.
- Check every example for accuracy. A preview helps you inspect sample copy; it does not guarantee that every generated asset will be suitable.
- Keep advertiser-written assets. Google advises retaining your own headlines and descriptions and monitoring generated content.
- Separate previewing from activation. You can inspect examples without opting in; enabling text customization is a separate campaign decision.
Google reports that enabling text customization together with final URL expansion led to 7% more conversions or conversion value at a similar CPA/ROAS. That is Google’s internal 2026 global average for non-Retail advertisers already using search term matching; it is not an independent study, a promised outcome, or a result attributable to previews alone. Google’s AI Max announcement describes the performance figure and its scope.
