GoldenEye 007 Plus adds an adjustable over-the-shoulder camera to Rare’s Nintendo 64 shooter, putting James Bond on screen instead of keeping the action in the original’s first-person view. A September 2026 video showed the developing feature in Silo, Bunker I and Surface I. The camera is part of a broader community mod project, not a standalone release of the game.
What is GoldenEye 007 Plus?
GoldenEye 007 Plus is a community modification built on decompiled source from Rare’s Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye 007. The project repository describes work on performance and stability, co-op and multiplayer, third-person gameplay, quality-of-life improvements, preservation-minded enhancements and an experimental in-game map maker.

The repository snapshot is marked internal checkpoint V90, dated September 28, 2026. That is a development checkpoint, not a public release-version number. The project also says some development areas remain under stress testing, so its feature list should be read as a picture of ongoing work rather than a promise that every feature is finished in a downloadable build.

The mod’s notable camera change is an adjustable third-person view over Bond’s shoulder. In a video reported by Time Extension on September 23, 2026, footage uploaded by Graslu00 showed the view in Silo, Bunker I and Surface I. Time Extension said the clip ran on Analogue 3D software; that describes the demonstration, not a project requirement or confirmed support guarantee.

The footage also showed work-in-progress movement: Bond’s crouch walk appeared to slide on his knees. That is an observation about the clip, not evidence of a general performance or compatibility problem.
What does the GoldenEye 007 Plus mod change?
The third-person camera is only one strand of development. The September 28 project snapshot lists camera and crosshair tuning, aiming and weapon-alignment work, multiplayer additions and campaign co-op architecture. DSOGaming’s October 3, 2026 overview also reported on camera adjustments, sight translucency and fixes to third-person cutscenes, while describing co-op and map-maker work.

| Performance and stability | These are stated project goals; the snapshot does not provide a measured performance result. |
These descriptions come from a dated development snapshot and secondary coverage, not a verified checklist for a finished release. The project notes that some areas are still being stress-tested.

Does GoldenEye 007 Plus include the ROM?
No. The project repository states: “This repository contains source code and project material only. It is not a substitute for the original game.” It also says: “A legally obtained retail ROM is required where the upstream build/extraction process needs original game data.” The repository does not distribute the original retail ROM.

- Nintendo 64 Console (Black): Retro gaming console in a sleek black finish.
- Two Controllers (Red & Blue): Includes two vibrant controllers for multiplayer gaming.
- 256KB Memory Card: Save your game progress easily with ample storage.
- HDMI Adapter: Modern connectivity for easy setup with today’s TVs
- Power Adapter: Essential power supply included for immediate play.
Those qualifications matter: the project files are not a copy of GoldenEye 007, and the source materials alone do not establish a universal ready-to-run installation path for every computer or console.
What do you need to build or play the mod?
The repository provides build instructions that identify an expected NTSC-U ROM filename and include a SHA-1 verification step. The available project information does not establish a single plug-and-play setup that works across all platforms. Follow the repository’s current instructions for the build path you intend to use, and use legally obtained game data where the upstream process requires it.

For emulator troubleshooting, the project separates emulator or plugin behavior from regressions in the game code. It notes that Project64 with GLideN64 can show a black-world symptom depending on framebuffer and depth settings, and gives “Force depth buffer clear = ON” as a useful diagnostic. This is troubleshooting guidance for that symptom, not a setting every player must enable. The project asks people reporting bugs to include emulator and plugin versions and relevant settings.

The clip demonstrates the camera in three recognizable stages and gives a glimpse of the mod’s in-progress presentation. It does not establish that the feature is polished throughout the campaign, that every listed project feature is complete, or that Analogue 3D is required. The repository’s checkpoint and feature notes are the better guide to project scope; the video and contemporary coverage provide a snapshot of the camera in action.
