CHOICE’s public listing calls it cooling-only, gives a capacity of 3.5 kW, identifies R290 refrigerant and lists a supplied window kit. CHOICE publicly displays basic specifications and a listed price, but its CHOICE Expert Rating, cooling score, energy-efficiency score, high-fan noise result and other test details are members-only. The public information therefore does not establish how quickly this model cools a room, how efficiently it operates, or how loud it is. Check the exhaust route before you buy
A portable air conditioner still needs to send hot air outdoors. Goldair’s manual requires installation of the exhaust assembly and window sealing plate, and the product includes a window kit. Check that your window type, opening, clearance and hose path will work with the supplied parts, and that a suitable power point is nearby.

The manual specifies an exhaust hose length of 280–1,500 mm and says not to extend it or substitute a different hose. Keep the hose unobstructed: Goldair warns that a blocked exhaust can cause overheating. Goldair’s GCPAC12 operating instructions.
The same manual identifies R290 refrigerant as flammable, requires a room larger than 11 m², and directs repairs to an authorised service centre. Follow the manual’s safety and installation instructions for the exact appliance revision.

Wi-Fi setup and everyday operation
The manual says app setup requires the home Wi-Fi network on a 2.4 GHz channel. If your router combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under one network name, check its settings or the app’s setup guidance if the appliance will not connect; the GCPAC12 setup requirement is specifically 2.4 GHz.
The manual documents cooling, dehumidification and fan modes, temperature adjustment from 16–31°C where applicable, and a timer from 1–24 hours. Confirm the conflicting specifications
Goldair and CHOICE publish different figures for two details that may matter in day-to-day use. The available sources do not explain whether these differences reflect product revisions or data discrepancies, so confirm the exact model revision and specifications with the seller before relying on either figure.

Both sources give similar external dimensions: Goldair lists 730 × 410 × 351 mm and CHOICE lists 73 × 41 × 35 cm. The difference in listed weight is more consequential for moving the unit, while the fan-speed discrepancy is worth checking if you want a particular control range. Goldair; CHOICE.

How to judge whether it suits your room
The GCPAC12 is a more plausible fit when you can install its window sealing plate, route the exhaust hose within the manual’s limits, and use a 2.4 GHz network if you want app control. A room smaller than the manual’s stated minimum of 11 m² does not meet its stated room-size requirement. Beyond that, public sources do not provide a verified room-size recommendation or public measured cooling result for this model.
Before choosing it over another portable air conditioner, compare the points that affect both fit and performance:
- Cooling capacity and room suitability: compare stated capacity, but look for independently measured cooling results and a clearly supported room-size recommendation rather than relying on capacity alone.
- Noise and energy use: seek comparable independent measurements. CHOICE’s public page does not expose these results for this model.
- Installation: compare hose length and routing, window-kit compatibility, and whether your window can be sealed around the exhaust.
- Controls: check whether app features matter to you and whether your home network meets the 2.4 GHz requirement.
- Practical ownership: verify the exact weight, warranty, refrigerant, local service arrangements and current price for the revision being sold.
