In Gods & Demons, Tanks help your team withstand attacks, damage-focused heroes pressure enemies, and Support heroes improve allies’ survival or effectiveness. Those are practical jobs, not a rigid recipe: the game’s four class labels are Tank, Attacker, Mage, and Support, and individual heroes can combine roles.
What are the four hero classes in Gods & Demons?
Com2uS’s launch announcement describes four classes: Tank, Attacker, Mage, and Support. “Damage dealer” is a useful umbrella term for damage-oriented Attackers and Mages; it is not a fifth official class. The same announcement describes a turn-based team-building game where stats, skills, synergies, race composition, and formations all matter.

The launch announcement says the game has more than 60 collectible heroes across five races—Human, Orc, Spirit, God, and Demon—and that race-based team composition can activate buffs. Players begin by selecting six heroes for an initial deck; heroes can then level up, evolve, and gain equipment to improve stats and skills. These are functional descriptions, not guarantees that every hero in a class does all of these things. Read the skill descriptions: a class badge is a starting clue, while a hero’s actual abilities determine what that hero contributes.

Tanks: protection and time to act
A Tank’s value is not just personal toughness. By drawing attacks, reducing damage, or otherwise helping protect teammates, a Tank can give fragile damage-focused heroes more time to use their skills. Pocket Gamer describes King Grox as a Tank with taunt and durability; that is the outlet’s assessment of a particular hero, not an official balance rating or a guarantee about every matchup. Attackers and Mages: damage with different patterns
Attackers and Mages both belong in the damage-dealer conversation, but their labels and kits are not interchangeable. The secondary beginner guide describes Assault heroes as dealing single-target or area damage and Magic heroes as offering rear-row area damage and debuffs. When choosing between damage heroes, consider who or how they can hit: concentrated damage can help pressure a priority target, while area attacks can affect multiple enemies. Debuffs or other effects may matter as much as raw damage if they help your team handle the opposing lineup.
Support: healing, buffs, and other utility
Support is broader than healing alone. Depending on the hero, support abilities can restore health, improve allies with buffs, remove debuffs, or help allies resist crowd control. Pocket Gamer, for example, describes Ostara as a healer with mitigation and ATK/Crit buffs, and Liana as a Support hero with heals, buffs, crowd-control resistance, and debuff dispel. Can one hero fill more than one role?
Yes. Elena is a clear example of role overlap: Com2uS introduced her as a Demon Mage whose skills deal area magic damage while also giving allies damage mitigation and ATK/HP buffs. When comparing heroes, separate the class label from the jobs their skills perform. A Mage may add team utility, and a Support hero may affect how much damage your lineup can deal by strengthening allies.

How should you choose heroes for a team?
There is no established universal class ratio or single required lineup. Use the following as a practical way to diagnose your team, not as a tested optimal formula:
- Identify what is going wrong. If your heroes fall before they can act, look for protection or healing. If enemies survive too long, consider the damage pattern your lineup lacks. If you struggle with effects or need stronger allies, inspect support and other utility skills.
- Read the skill descriptions. Check what each hero actually targets and does—damage, taunt, mitigation, buffs, healing, debuffs, or cleansing—rather than choosing by class badge alone.
- Check race synergies and formations. The launch announcement specifically points to race-based buffs and formation choices as parts of team building. Factor these in alongside hero stats and skills.
- Adjust for the mode and opponents. A lineup that handles one set of enemies may not solve another team’s damage pattern or utility. Change heroes based on the problem you need to answer, rather than preserving a fixed role count.
The beginner guide also recommends using Tanks in the front row and cautions against exposing damage dealers when opponents attack the back row. That is secondary-guide positioning advice; the available official material here does not establish it as a universal rule across formations or modes. Are hero rankings and availability current?
Be cautious with tier lists as a source of lasting team advice. Pocket Gamer’s page says it was updated October 5, 2026 for version 3.0.10, and also says the game had been removed from the App Store and Google Play and that it would no longer update its tier list. That is Pocket Gamer’s report; it does not independently establish store availability in every region or the live game version.
