You can choose a Glyph pattern by selecting its associated notification sound in Settings > Glyph Interface > Notification sounds. To make that pattern specific to an app, the app must also offer its own notification sound or category controls; Nothing’s documented Glyph selector does not provide a universal, separate animation assignment for every app.
How Glyph notification patterns are assigned
Nothing says each notification sound has a unique Glyph pattern associated with it. The Glyph settings let you preview patterns and select a notification sound, including original Nothing sounds and imported sounds. In practice, the pattern follows the sound rather than being assigned as a fully custom animation to an app.

Nothing’s support instructions document a Glyph-wide notification-sound selector, not a complete app-by-app setup for every phone and Nothing OS version. Whether you can give one app a distinct pattern therefore depends on whether that app exposes a separate notification sound setting.
Set a Glyph pattern for an app’s notifications

Open Settings > Glyph Interface > Notification sounds. If the labels differ, check the instructions for your phone model and Nothing OS version. Nothing Support documents this path.

Preview the available notification sounds and their associated Glyph patterns, then select the sound with the pattern you want. Nothing says you can choose original sounds or imported sounds.

Open the app’s own notification settings. Look for controls for notification sound or notification categories; if the app lets you choose a sound for a category, select the sound whose Glyph pattern you want. The exact route and available controls depend on the app, phone and software version.

Send a test notification, or wait for one, to check the result. If the Glyph lights do not appear, verify that Glyph Interface is enabled in Settings. Nothing says incoming calls and message notifications can light a preset pattern when the interface is on. See Nothing’s description of the Glyph Interface.

What you can—and cannot—customize
Notification sounds and patterns
The documented approach is to pick a notification sound with the associated Glyph pattern you want. Imported sounds are an option, but Nothing’s support instructions do not say that users can design a new light animation or freely assign any animation to any app.
Individual contacts on Phone (1)
Nothing’s Phone (1) product page describes pairing individual contacts with ringtones, each with a unique Glyph pattern, and choosing different Glyph patterns for notifications. That is a contact-specific feature described for Phone (1); it does not establish the same controls on every later Nothing phone or an app-specific workflow. Nothing Phone (1) product information.

If a pattern does not appear

Confirm Glyph Interface is enabled.

Check that the app is allowed to send notifications and, if it has notification categories, that the relevant category is enabled.

Check whether the app provides a sound choice for that notification or category. Without an app-level sound control, the documented Glyph-wide selector does not establish a way to assign a distinct pattern just to that app.

When instructions do not match your menus, identify your phone model and Nothing OS version before looking for model-specific guidance.
Consider light sensitivity
Nothing warns that the Glyph interface may not be safe for people with epilepsy or others sensitive to light. Consider that warning before enabling light notifications. Nothing Support: What is the Glyph Interface?
