The Gigabyte MO27Q28G is a strong choice for PC gamers who want a fast 1440p OLED with bright SDR output and wide color coverage. Its main drawbacks are limited USB-C power, HDR that is good but not class-leading, and a 280 Hz refresh rate that is no longer the top of the market. Whether it is worth buying depends on your GPU frame rates, whether you need to charge a laptop through one cable, and the price where you live.
Manufacturer claims versus reviewer measurements
Two sources cover this monitor in depth: a PCWorld review by Matthew S. Smith dated March 16, 2026, and a Tom’s Hardware review by Christian Eberle dated March 25, 2026. GIGABYTE’s own MO27Q28G product page lists the specifications. Those figures are the manufacturer’s, and the reviewers’ numbers come from their own test setups, so the two sets are not interchangeable.

| Metric | GIGABYTE claim | Reviewer measurement |
|---|---|---|
| HDR peak brightness | Up to 1500 nits | 799 nits sustained in a 3% window, brightest HDR mode (PCWorld) |
| SDR brightness | Not stated on the product page | 341 nits (PCWorld) |
| DCI-P3 coverage | 99.5% | 99% (PCWorld) |
| BT.2020 coverage | 84% | Not reported in the cited reviews |
| sRGB coverage | Not stated on the product page | 100% (PCWorld) |
| AdobeRGB coverage | Not stated on the product page | 93% (PCWorld) |
| Response time | 0.03 ms | Not reported in the cited reviews |
A peak HDR figure is usually measured over a small bright area for a brief moment. A sustained window measurement holds that brightness across a defined portion of the screen. The gap in the table is therefore partly a difference in test conditions, not only a difference in panel quality. The product page also describes anti-reflection capability, but it offers no measured reflection percentage, so treat that as a marketing description.

The pros
Bright SDR for an OLED
PCWorld measured 341 nits in SDR and called it the highest result the reviewer had recorded among recent OLED gaming monitors at the time of testing. For a desk in a bright room, that headroom matters more than it does in a dim one. Reflections and room lighting still affect what you see, so the number is a starting point rather than a guarantee.

OLED contrast and deep blacks
Tom’s Hardware and PCWorld both describe the characteristic OLED strength here: black levels that stay very dark, which gives dark scenes strong contrast. This is a property of the panel technology, not a figure unique to this model.
Wide color gamut
PCWorld measured 100% sRGB, 99% DCI-P3, and 93% AdobeRGB coverage. These are that review’s measurements under its own methodology, so expect close results rather than identical ones on other units or in other picture modes.
Smooth high-refresh gaming
The 280 Hz maximum combined with OLED response times gives clear, fluid motion. PCWorld reported good motion clarity and smooth frame pacing in its gaming tests, and Tom’s Hardware praised the monitor’s responsiveness and motion performance. The benefit is real only if your system can push frame rates high enough to use the refresh rate.
Compact, adjustable stand
PCWorld found the stand sturdy and reported height, tilt, swivel, and portrait rotation adjustments. It is a practical base for a desk where space is limited.
Lower price tier at review time
PCWorld listed a $599.99 MSRP, and Tom’s Hardware described the price as around $600. At those figures, advanced tandem WOLED sat below some premium alternatives. Those were review-time prices, not current ones; see the price section below.

The cons and caveats
USB-C charging is limited
The USB-C port can carry video and deliver power, but it supplies only 18 W. That is enough for some phones and low-power accessories. PCWorld says most laptops will need a separate power connection, so a single cable for docking and charging is not realistic for many machines.
HDR is good, not class-leading
The 1500-nit figure on the product page is a manufacturer peak claim. In PCWorld’s testing, the sustained result was lower and fell further at larger window sizes than some recent monitors managed. The reviewer still found HDR impactful in dynamic scenes, so the verdict is good performance rather than a top-of-class result. If HDR is your main reason to buy, compare sustained-window results across the monitors you are considering.

280 Hz is fast, but PCWorld notes that competing OLED and LCD gaming monitors reach 480 Hz or higher. The extra headroom matters most to competitive players who consistently exceed 280 frames per second and can see the difference. Most players will not need it.
Restrained design and fewer gaming picture modes
PCWorld describes the design as basic and notes fewer gaming-oriented image modes than some rivals. This is a matter of taste. Buyers who prefer a subtle look for a mixed office and gaming desk may see it as a benefit.
Built-in speakers are basic
PCWorld describes the two 5 W speakers as modest, flat, and weak in bass. For games or music, a headset or external speakers will be a clear upgrade.

Default calibration needs attention
PCWorld reported a slightly dark default gamma and a color temperature that runs cooler than target. Calibration options are available. If you do color-critical work, plan on adjusting or calibrating the display rather than relying on the wide gamut figures alone.
How to compare it with alternatives
PCWorld notes that other OLED monitors share the same base QHD and 280 Hz specifications, so the differences come down to panel performance, ports, features, and price. Check these points before you buy:
- Local price, stock, seller reputation, warranty length, and return policy.
- Your GPU’s typical frame rates at 1440p, and whether 280 Hz will be used in the games you play.
- OLED generation and HDR performance, compared using the same measurement window.
- SDR brightness and how the screen handles reflections in your room.
- Whether you need USB-C power delivery high enough to charge your laptop, or a hub or KVM function.
- Text clarity, color calibration options, stand ergonomics, and burn-in protection for mixed gaming and productivity use.
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
It fits well if you are a PC gamer who wants QHD OLED contrast, wide color, and a fast panel, you do not need to charge a laptop through USB-C, and the local price is close to the review-time figure. Its bright SDR output also makes it a more practical OLED for a room with some daylight.
Look elsewhere if you need one USB-C cable to power a laptop, you want the highest esports refresh rate, HDR is your top priority, or you care most about a more elaborate gaming design or built-in audio.
