Its standout advantages are deep blacks in dark rooms, vivid color, fast motion response, and DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20. The tradeoffs are OLED burn-in risk, possible variable-refresh-rate flicker, raised blacks in ambient light, demanding 4K frame rates, and a premium price. Its DisplayPort advantage matters most if your graphics card supports it.
What are the FO32U2P’s main pros and cons?
| Pros | Cons and caveats |
|---|---|
| 4K resolution and a 240Hz refresh ceiling, with QD-OLED contrast and vivid color. GIGABYTE lists 99% DCI-P3 coverage as a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement. GIGABYTE | Running demanding games at very high frame rates in native 4K calls for a powerful graphics card. Tom’s Hardware notes a top-tier GPU is needed to approach 200fps in demanding titles. Tom’s Hardware |
| Very fast response, low input lag, and crisp motion in RTINGS testing. RTINGS | RTINGS reports VRR flicker when frame rates change in dark scenes, and raised OLED black levels under ambient light. Strong glare is also a poor match for this display. RTINGS |
| DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 can enable uncompressed 4K/240Hz with compatible graphics hardware. GIGABYTE describes UHBR20 bandwidth as 80Gbps. GIGABYTE | Without a compatible source, the practical benefit of DP 2.1 may be limited; TechRadar said most buyers in its 2024 review context would see little immediate gain. TechRadar |
| HDMI 2.1, VRR, and strong PS5 and Xbox Series X|S compatibility according to RTINGS. RTINGS | Like other OLED displays, it carries a risk of permanent burn-in from persistent static content. RTINGS |
| USB-C power delivery up to 65W and KVM can be useful in a desk setup shared by multiple computers. GIGABYTE | 65W may not meet the charging needs of some laptops. Confirm the laptop’s power requirement before relying on the monitor for charging. RTINGS |
How good is the picture and motion?
QD-OLED is the central reason to consider the FO32U2P. RTINGS reports deep blacks in dark rooms and vivid color, while Tom’s Hardware describes its motion processing as superb. Together with the high refresh ceiling and fast response, those traits suit games where both image quality and clear movement matter.

GIGABYTE specifies a 32-inch QD-OLED panel with UHD/4K resolution, 240Hz, 0.03ms stated response, 10-bit color, 99% DCI-P3 coverage, and a 1.5M:1 contrast ratio. These are manufacturer figures rather than independent test results. Tom’s Hardware measured 265 nits peak white in SDR and 457 nits in HDR; its specification table separately lists the manufacturer’s 1,000-nit HDR claim for a 3% window. The claimed figure and the reviewer’s measurements describe different things and should not be treated as interchangeable. Tom’s Hardware

Room lighting affects the experience: RTINGS reports that ambient light raises the appearance of OLED blacks, and that the monitor is not bright enough to overcome strong glare. A controlled or dimmer room is a better setting for the deep-black advantage.

Does DisplayPort 2.1 matter for your setup?
The FO32U2P’s clearest distinguishing feature is DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20. GIGABYTE says its 80Gbps bandwidth can carry uncompressed 4K at 240Hz; RTINGS conditions DSC-free operation at maximum refresh on having a compatible graphics card. In other words, the port’s capability alone does not guarantee that your current PC can use it.
- It matters more if your graphics card supports the required DisplayPort mode and you specifically want 4K/240Hz without Display Stream Compression (DSC).
- It matters less if your graphics card cannot use UHBR20, or if you are satisfied with the refresh and image modes available through your existing connection. TechRadar characterized the immediate benefit as limited for most buyers in its 2024 review context.
Check the graphics card’s output specifications and the connection requirements for your target resolution and refresh rate before paying extra for this feature.

Is it a good choice for console gaming or work?
Console gaming
RTINGS rates PS5 and Xbox Series X|S compatibility highly. HDMI 2.1, VRR, OLED image quality, and fast response make it a plausible premium console display, though a console buyer will not use the monitor’s 240Hz ceiling in the same way as a high-refresh PC. RTINGS also found lower input lag than the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM at 60Hz and 120Hz in its comparison; that is a result from its test context, not a guarantee for every setup. RTINGS
Mixed work and gaming
USB-C up to 65W and KVM support can simplify a desk shared by a laptop and desktop. Check the laptop’s charging requirements: the monitor’s stated USB-C power may not be enough for every model. For work dominated by static windows, toolbars, or other persistent interface elements, consider the OLED burn-in risk and whether your habits and the monitor’s OLED-care features suit that routine.

What are the main OLED drawbacks to consider?
Burn-in risk with persistent static content
RTINGS warns that permanent burn-in is possible when static elements remain on screen for long periods. GIGABYTE lists OLED-care features, but that does not remove the risk. The concern is most relevant to repeated, long sessions with the same fixed interface; varied gaming and media use presents a different pattern. Buyers who need a display for static work all day should weigh that use against the panel’s gaming strengths.
VRR flicker in some dark scenes
RTINGS reports flicker when variable refresh rate is active and frame rates change, particularly in darker scenes. How noticeable that is can depend on the game and frame-rate behavior. If you are sensitive to flicker, treat it as a meaningful tradeoff rather than assuming VRR will look identical in every title.

How does it differ from the FO32U2?
Do not treat the FO32U2 and FO32U2P as the same configuration. RTINGS says its tested FO32U2P includes DisplayPort 2.1, Mini DisplayPort, and USB-C power delivery up to 65W. The FO32U2 lacks DisplayPort 2.1 and Mini DisplayPort and has 18W USB-C power delivery. Verify the exact model and regional specification listing when shopping. RTINGS
What should you compare before buying?
The FO32U2P is a premium-priced monitor, but older review prices should not be mistaken for a current quote. TechRadar rated its value lower because of the price and incremental gains over competing displays. Check current local pricing, stock, and warranty terms; GIGABYTE advertises a three-year premium warranty, but coverage can vary by country. TechRadar GIGABYTE
For alternatives in the same general class, RTINGS compares the FO32U2P with the MSI MPG 321URX, ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM, and LG 32GS95UE-B. Compare the features that affect your use rather than choosing by panel label alone:
- Whether your GPU supports DP 2.1 UHBR20 and whether DSC-free 4K/240Hz matters to you.
- USB-C charging: RTINGS reports up to 65W for the FO32U2P and up to 90W for the MSI MPG 321URX.
- VRR flicker behavior if you are sensitive to it; RTINGS says the MSI may suit more flicker-sensitive users.
- Dolby Vision support and firmware status. RTINGS reports that the ASUS received Dolby Vision after a firmware update, so check current model details.
- Console input lag, current regional price, availability, warranty, and the particular stand or connectivity features you need.
RTINGS’ test details are specific to its unit: it says the tested monitor was manufactured in March 2024 and ran firmware F03. Its page lists a test-bench update dated March 17, 2026; neither detail establishes the latest firmware available to buyers. RTINGS
