Neither GFiber nor AT&T Fiber is automatically better for everyone. First check whether both can serve your exact address; then compare the final monthly price, a speed tier that fits your household, included Wi-Fi equipment and installation terms. Both advertise fiber service with symmetrical upload and download capability, no data caps and no annual contract, but availability and actual bills vary by address and offer.
Check availability before comparing prices
Fiber eligibility is address-specific: a nearby home may have different options. Enter the exact service address in each provider’s GFiber plan checker and AT&T plan checker. Compare only plans actually offered at that address.

Do not use footprint counts or starting prices from AT&T’s comparison table as current market data. The table identifies its competitor data as being from 2024-10-01, so its figures are historical rather than a reliable guide to availability or pricing now. AT&T’s comparison page also notes that service can differ between neighboring addresses.

The following are the plan tiers and prices shown on the providers’ official pages when accessed in 2026. Availability and offers may vary by address, and prices should be confirmed in the order summary.

| Provider | Advertised tiers | Published monthly prices or conditions |
|---|---|---|
| GFiber | Core 1 Gig; Home 3 Gig; Edge 8 Gig | $70/month; $100/month; $150/month, respectively, on the official plan page. GFiber plans |
| AT&T Fiber | Internet 300; Internet 500; Internet 1000; 2 GIG; 5 GIG | The plans page says eligible fiber plans receive a $10/month AutoPay and paperless billing discount and have no price increase at 12 months; check the address-specific offer and terms at checkout. AT&T plans |
These lineups are not perfectly matched. For instance, GFiber’s listed lineup starts at 1 Gig while AT&T lists 300 Mbps and 500 Mbps tiers as well. If a lower-speed plan is sufficient, the relevant comparison is the AT&T tier actually offered at your address against the cost and benefits of GFiber’s available tiers—not a theoretical price for a plan you cannot order.
Choose speed for your household, not the largest number
Both providers advertise symmetrical or equal upload and download capability on fiber. More bandwidth can help when several people use the connection at once or when household members regularly upload large files, but the highest tier is not automatically the best value. Match the tier to simultaneous use, remote-work uploads, downloads and the capabilities of your wired devices and home network.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Advertised maximums are not a promise that every device will reach that speed. AT&T says its 5 GIG plan has a maximum single-device wired speed of 4.7 Gbps; its speed claims assume a wired connection, and actual speeds may vary. Wi-Fi conditions, device ports, cabling and network setup also affect what a device can use. AT&T’s plan details explain this qualification.
For gaming or other latency-sensitive use, advertised gigabit speed alone does not establish which provider will perform better at your home. The available provider comparison pages do not provide a neutral, methodologically comparable head-to-head test for your address. Treat each company’s rankings and service superlatives as that company’s claims rather than a household-specific performance guarantee.

Check the complete bill and conditions
Both providers advertise no annual contract, no data caps and included Wi-Fi equipment without an equipment fee. GFiber’s FAQ also describes no early termination fee and no data overage fee. AT&T says eligible fiber plans have no 12-month price increase, but its AutoPay and paperless billing discount has conditions. Confirm the offer, required payment method, taxes and any other charges in the final order summary; a published plan price is not necessarily the tax-inclusive amount you will pay.
GFiber lists its 1, 3 and 8 Gig prices on its plan page. AT&T’s pricing and eligible offers depend on the address and checkout terms. Compare the actual monthly total for the plans available to you rather than relying on an old comparison-page “starting at” figure.

Compare equipment and installation details
Both providers include Wi-Fi equipment, but the equipment configuration is plan-specific and the available details are not identical. GFiber describes plan-specific routers and extenders, and says its plans include a mesh-ready router. It offers free self-installation and professional installation. Check the configuration included with the exact GFiber plan at your address. GFiber’s comparison page and GFiber FAQ provide its equipment and setup information.
AT&T includes a wireless gateway and says self-installation or technician installation is available at no cost. You can use your own Wi-Fi equipment, but AT&T advises checking compatibility and feature support. GFiber also says a third-party router can connect to the Fiber Jack’s Ethernet port. Since both include equipment, a separate router is optional, not a prerequisite; verify compatibility and port speeds before buying one. AT&T’s comparison page covers its gateway and customer-equipment terms.
Make the decision using your address and priorities
- Check both address tools. If only one provider serves the home, that settles the provider choice unless another connection type is under consideration.
- Compare like-for-like offers. Record the available speed tier, monthly price after any required discount, payment conditions and estimated taxes from each final order summary.
- Match the plan to use. Consider simultaneous household activity, large uploads, remote work, gaming and whether your wired devices can use multi-gig speeds.
- Review what is included. Confirm gateway/router and extender details, installation choice, and equipment return or setup conditions before placing the order.
If both providers offer a suitable plan, choose the one with the better address-specific total and included setup for your needs. If the costs are close, favor the tier and equipment arrangement that better fits your upload needs, coverage and wired devices—not an unverified claim that one provider is universally faster or more reliable.
