If Microsoft Store will not open in Windows 11, start with Microsoft’s cache reset: press Windows key + R, enter wsreset.exe, and select OK. Then check Windows updates and your time and location settings. If the Store appears in Start search but still will not launch, use its built-in Repair option, followed by Reset if needed.
Try the quick launch fixes first
Clear the Microsoft Store cache
- Press Windows key + R to open Run.
- Type
wsreset.exeand select OK. - A blank Command Prompt window should open and close after about ten seconds; Microsoft says the Store then opens automatically. If it does not, continue to the next checks.

Install Windows updates
- Open Start > Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates and install any updates offered.
- Restart Windows if prompted, then try Microsoft Store again.
Check time and location settings
Confirm Windows has the correct time and location settings. Microsoft includes these checks in its Store launch guidance; an incorrect setting is a reason to verify configuration, not proof that it caused the problem.
Check whether the app is missing or simply will not launch
Open Start and search for Microsoft Store. If it appears, select the result to launch it. A missing taskbar icon alone does not mean the app is missing; if the search result appears, you can pin it from there.

If Microsoft Store does not appear in search, check whether you are signed in with a Microsoft account. On a work-managed PC, ask your administrator whether Store access is disabled. A missing search result can reflect account or organization policy rather than a launch failure. Microsoft’s guidance for a missing Store app
Repair Microsoft Store, then reset it if necessary
Use Windows 11’s built-in app recovery options if the Store is present but still will not open. Microsoft notes that not every app provides these options.

Repair is the first option to try; Reset is the next step. The Windows guidance establishes this sequence but does not specify the precise data impact of resetting Microsoft Store, so do not assume what it preserves. Microsoft’s Windows instructions for repairing or resetting apps
