To get all eight Rarecrows in Stardew Valley, visit festival shops, the Casino, the Traveling Cart or Festival of Ice, the Dwarf, and the Museum. Collecting the full set unlocks the Deluxe Scarecrow recipe by letter soon afterward, usually the next day.

Where to find all 8 Rarecrows

Use this checklist to track each Rarecrow and its acquisition route. Prices and donation milestones below are those listed by the Stardew Valley Wiki’s Scarecrow page; the page does not identify a game version.

  1. Rarecrow #1 — Stardew Valley Fair: Buy it from the festival shop for 800 Star Tokens.
  2. Rarecrow #2 — Spirit’s Eve: Buy it at the festival for 5,000g.
  3. Rarecrow #3 — Casino: Buy it at the Casino for 10,000 Qi coins. An older, now-removed Steam community guide calls this design the Alien Rarecrow; the current wiki confirms the acquisition source and price. The Steam guide was last updated January 15, 2022, so use it only as supplemental design-name information.
  4. Rarecrow #4 — Traveling Cart or Festival of Ice: Check the Traveling Cart in Fall or Winter; it may randomly stock this Rarecrow for 4,000g. If you do not find it there, buy it at the Festival of Ice for 5,000g.
  5. Rarecrow #5 — Flower Dance: Buy it at the festival for 2,500g.
  6. Rarecrow #6 — Dwarf: Buy it from the Dwarf for 2,500g.
  7. Rarecrow #7 — Museum artifacts: Donate 20 artifacts to the Museum, not counting minerals. After earning it once, you can buy another copy at the Night Market.
  8. Rarecrow #8 — Museum donations: Donate 40 items to the Museum. After earning it once, you can buy another copy at the Night Market.

Which Rarecrow #4 route should you use?

Route When available Cost How dependable is it?
Traveling Cart Fall or Winter 4,000g Random stock; it may not appear when checked.
Festival of Ice During the Festival of Ice 5,000g A fixed purchase alternative if the Cart does not have it.

The Cart is cheaper if it stocks the item, but its appearance is random. The Festival of Ice costs 1,000g more and provides the documented alternative purchase route.

What collecting all eight unlocks

After you collect all eight distinct Rarecrows, a letter arrives soon afterward—usually the next day—with the Deluxe Scarecrow crafting recipe. Rarecrows otherwise work like regular Scarecrows; the Alien Rarecrow is the exception in one practical detail, because you can place a hat on it.
