What Vodyanitsa does in a team
HoYoverse’s Version 7.1 update notice, dated September 23, 2026, labels Vodyanitsa a five-star Hydro character who uses a Catalyst. Its description of her role, translated from the Spanish-language notice, is that she provides healing and support in both Freeze and Stellar Swirl teams. That is the official frame: she is a supporting unit whose job is keeping the party healthy and feeding a reaction-based team, not a personal-damage carry.

Guide recommendations build on that frame. The rest of this article reflects what the published guides recommend for her support role. These are guide rankings and calculations, not official HoYoverse advice, and the in-game mechanics below are as the guides describe them.
Stat priorities for a support build
The guides converge on HP as her priority. Prydwen’s guide, last updated September 25, recommends HP% on the main stats for sands, goblet, and circlet. Prydwen and Mobalytics both recommend flat HP substats for the cases they cover.

Energy Recharge is the one stat where the advice is conditional. Prydwen says it is generally unnecessary on teams where Vodyanitsa’s Burst is not worth using, but it can be worth having when her Burst is used occasionally to support a weaker carry. Treat that as guidance for specific teams, not as a rule for every build.
Artifacts: choosing between ATK buff and HP stacking
Tenacity of the Millelith is the most common artifact recommendation. Its two-piece effect adds HP, and its four-piece effect can buff nearby party ATK after her Skill hits. Prydwen names it the strongest set for her common support use, and Mobalytics presents it as an accessible option that supports both HP and team ATK.

The choice comes down to the carry. The axis is whether the team’s damage dealer scales from ATK and benefits from the buff, versus maximizing Vodyanitsa’s own HP scaling for a carry that does not use ATK. The table summarizes the situations the guides describe.

Weapons: which one to prioritize
No source establishes that one weapon is mandatory for Vodyanitsa. The guides rank a small set of options, and the right pick depends on your team. Compare weapons on four axes: the passive’s usefulness, the carry’s scaling, the timing of her Skill and Burst within your rotation, and the team’s role (Freeze, Hydro/Cryo support, or Stellar Swirl).
Hymn of the Maelstrom
Prydwen ranks Hymn of the Maelstrom highly and notes that its value depends on the team and the rotation. In Prydwen’s Skirk team discussion, the guide reports a relative-damage figure of 103.7% for Hymn of the Maelstrom at refinement rank 1. That figure is the guide’s own calculation for that specific team, not a general result for every build.
Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers
Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers is the prominent accessible option. Prydwen says it is competitive in the Skirk team discussion and can be a strong choice for players who do not have the premium weapon. Its main timing requirement is covered in the steps below.

Prototype Amber
Prydwen also names Prototype Amber as an alternative. Its relative value rises with carries that do not scale from ATK, or when Vodyanitsa’s Burst is part of the rotation.

How to decide on a weapon
- Check whether your main damage dealer scales from ATK. If it does not, the ATK-focused parts of the weapon comparison matter less.
- Compare each candidate’s passive against your team’s needs, such as the value of a weapon that supports the carry’s damage versus one that supports her healing and support role.
- If you are holding Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers, use Vodyanitsa’s Skill immediately before the main DPS takes the field. Prydwen says this timing is what makes the weapon’s effect line up with the carry.
- If the timing of her Skill cannot line up with the carry’s entry, a weapon that works without that alignment may be the better fit.

Mizuki with Cryo Traveler and Sucrose
Genshin-Build lists a Mizuki-centered alternative with Cryo Traveler and Sucrose. Mizuki is also the example Prydwen gives for a carry that does not benefit from ATK, which is why two-piece HP sets are suggested for this kind of team.

The Hydro application trade-off
Mobalytics notes that Vodyanitsa’s Hydro application can reduce the number of Stellar Swirl triggers. It can also work against Mizuki’s need to trigger Swirl. If your team relies on Mizuki’s Swirl, check the reaction count before committing to a Vodyanitsa-led Swirl team.
