Google’s built-in Analytics is the clearest starting point for tracking Gemini Enterprise app adoption, usage and quality. Promevo says its Insights product adds a consolidated view of license usage, agent inventory and permissions, Google Cloud costs, and trends. The main distinction is scope: Google’s reports describe app activity, while Insights is positioned as a cross-console governance and cost view. Insights is currently described by Promevo as an early preview available by request, and its capabilities have not been independently validated.
What Google’s built-in Gemini Enterprise Analytics reports
Google describes Analytics as an interactive, Looker-powered dashboard for app usage trends, search quality and end-user engagement. Its tabs are Adoption; Usage and Quality; Agent; Value; and User Level. The documented measures include unique active users, users who call the assistant, seven- and 28-day growth and churn, 28-day retention, purchased and claimed seats, search counts, agent activity, and value measures. See Google’s Analytics documentation.

These measures are useful for understanding activity in a Gemini Enterprise app, but an “active” user is not necessarily someone who completed meaningful work: Google’s definition can include signing in and triggering an API call, such as loading the home page. Interpret active-user counts as product activity, not proof of task completion or business impact.
App metrics are available only after a data store is linked. Search analytics availability also varies by app region: Google documents them as generally available for global apps and in Public Preview for apps in US and EU multi-regions.

How Cloud Monitoring differs from Analytics
Google Cloud Monitoring is a separate operational telemetry surface, not simply another tab in the Analytics dashboard. Google documents app-scoped and agent-scoped metrics. App-scoped metrics are collected without enabling additional instrumentation; agent-scoped metrics require OpenTelemetry traces and logs instrumentation. Monitoring metric data refreshes every minute, and the relevant Gemini Enterprise metrics are covered by the default six-week retention tier for “all other Google Cloud metrics.” See Google Cloud’s metrics documentation.
That faster refresh and defined retention apply to Monitoring metrics, not necessarily to the Analytics tabs or their reporting history. Choose Monitoring when operational telemetry is the need; do not assume its metrics, setup requirements, or retention describe Google’s adoption dashboard.
What Promevo says Insights adds
Promevo positions Insights as a read-only layer that brings together information otherwise spread across Google consoles. Its feature list names Agent Operations, Agent Cost, User Usage, Asset Discovery & Hierarchy, FinOps & Cloud Spend, Member Summary, and Daily Trends. Promevo says the product combines Gemini Enterprise license usage, agent inventory and permissions, Google Cloud costs, historical trends, and dollar values. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently confirmed results. See Promevo’s Insights product page.
On data handling, Promevo states: “Insights is strictly read-only and does not read, store, or display prompt or response content.” That is the vendor’s representation; organizations should confirm data access, handling, retention, and security terms directly during procurement.

Side-by-side: which reporting approach answers which question?
| Decision area | Google Analytics and Cloud Monitoring | Promevo Insights |
|---|---|---|
| Primary scope | Analytics reports app adoption, usage and quality, agent activity, value measures, and restricted user-level data. Cloud Monitoring supplies a distinct operational telemetry layer. | Promevo says Insights combines license usage, agent inventory and permissions, cloud costs, and trends. |
| Adoption and usage | Documented measures include unique active users, assistant callers, seven- and 28-day growth and churn, 28-day retention, seats purchased and claimed, and search counts. “Active” can include a sign-in and API call such as loading the home page. | Promevo lists User Usage, Member Summary, and Daily Trends; the product page does not establish equivalent metric definitions. |
| User-level visibility | The User Level tab includes user identifiers and interactions and requires allowlisting through the account or sales team. | Promevo lists user usage and member summaries. The available product information does not establish the precise user-level fields or access controls. |
| Freshness and history | Analytics refreshes about every six hours. Monitoring metrics refresh every minute and fall under a six-week default retention tier for the relevant “all other Google Cloud metrics.” These are separate surfaces. | Promevo says Insights includes historical trends. A refresh cadence and retention duration are not stated on the cited product information. |
| Agent and permissions view | Analytics includes an Agent tab; Monitoring has agent-scoped metrics when OpenTelemetry traces and logs instrumentation is enabled. The cited Google documentation does not describe a unified permissions inventory in these reporting surfaces. | Promevo lists Agent Operations and Agent Cost, and says it brings together agent inventory and permissions. |
| Costs and attribution | The cited Analytics definitions include value measures, but do not establish the same consolidated Google Cloud cost view described by Promevo. | Promevo lists FinOps & Cloud Spend and says Insights joins cloud costs with usage and agent information. The exact attribution method is not established in the cited product information. |
| Availability | Google documents Analytics and Cloud Monitoring capabilities, with the noted data-store, region, and instrumentation conditions. | Promevo says Insights is in early preview by request. General availability and pricing are not stated. |
Can Google’s reports show inactive licenses?
Google Analytics documents seats purchased and claimed, along with user activity measures. Those can help administrators compare licensing totals with observed activity, but the documented measures do not by themselves establish a dedicated inactive-license classification or a complete license-to-user explanation. In particular, an active count may include a basic API-triggering event rather than meaningful task completion.
Promevo says Insights brings license usage and user usage together, which may help organizations seeking that joined view. The available product information does not define how it classifies inactivity, what thresholds it uses, or how license status is reconciled. Confirm those definitions in a walkthrough before using the figures for license changes.

When native reports are enough—and when to evaluate another layer
Use Google Analytics for app adoption
For teams asking whether people are using a Gemini Enterprise app, how activity changes over seven or 28 days, how many seats are claimed, or how search and agent activity look, Google’s built-in Analytics provides documented product-specific measures. If the question requires identifying users and interactions, account for the User Level allowlisting requirement.

Use Cloud Monitoring for operational telemetry
For minute-refresh operational metrics, distinguish Monitoring from adoption reporting and account for its six-week default retention tier. Agent-scoped metrics also require OpenTelemetry traces and logs instrumentation.

Evaluate Insights for a joined governance and cost view
If the management question spans licenses, agents, permissions, cloud costs, and trends in one place, Promevo’s stated feature scope makes Insights a candidate to evaluate. Its product claims, data handling, metric definitions, historical depth, and attribution should be verified with Promevo because independent performance validation is not established.
Consider organization-specific analysis in BigQuery
Google’s BigQuery guidance distinguishes its precomputed, product-centric dashboard view from organization-centric analysis that may need internal context. Teams can build organization-specific analytics using their own data, so a third-party dashboard is not the only route to richer reporting. See Google’s BigQuery guidance.
Availability and procurement questions for Promevo Insights
Promevo’s product page describes Insights as early preview by request and invites organizations to schedule a walkthrough. Its announcement, dated October 5, 2026, presents the product as a platform for AI agent governance, Gemini Enterprise adoption, and Google Cloud cost management. The cited sources do not establish general availability, pricing, data retention duration, or independent performance validation. See Promevo’s announcement.
