Gears of War: E-Day plans five themed multiplayer seasons, with Season 1: Emergence underway in Premium Edition Early Access as of October 1, 2026. The Coalition has detailed three limited-time Season 1 events and scheduled Versus Ranked for October 13. The roadmap spans cooperative Horde Siege and competitive Versus, but several legacy features remain under consideration rather than confirmed additions.
What the post-launch multiplayer roadmap includes
The Coalition has committed to five themed multiplayer seasons, counting the launch season. The announced names are Emergence, Legacy, Infiltration, Pendulum, and Devotion. Season 2, Legacy, is dedicated to the franchise’s 20th anniversary; the developer has not announced exact dates for later seasons, and says their lengths may vary. The Coalition’s multiplayer deep dive says it will share more roadmap detail closer to launch.

How Horde Siege and Versus differ

Season 1: Emergence dates and events
The Coalition announced that Emergence began with Early Access on October 1, 2026, and runs for eight weeks through December 1. Its three named limited-time events are Halloween, 20 Years of Gears, and Thanksgibbing. Each was described as a two-week event featuring a Versus Event mode, a Horde Siege Event mission, and exclusive rewards. The September 30 Season 1 update provides those details.
When Versus Ranked is scheduled
Versus Ranked was scheduled for October 13, one week after the October 6 worldwide launch. The Coalition said the delay was intended to give players time to learn the modes and sandbox first. This is the announced schedule, not confirmation here that the playlist went live as planned.

Early Access and worldwide launch timing
As of October 3, 2026, Premium Edition Early Access had begun, while the worldwide launch was still upcoming. Xbox Wire said Early Access started worldwide October 1 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific / 15:00 UTC, with worldwide launch scheduled for October 6 at the same time. Its September 17 announcement said Premium Edition players could start October 1, while Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members could join October 6. Xbox Wire’s October 1 launch update has the current access announcement; schedules may change.

What is not confirmed for the roadmap
The Coalition’s Season 1 update said Meat Shields, Chainsaw Duels, some weapons from past games, Private Lobbies, and leaderboards were not part of the launch feature set. It said the team was considering how and what to deliver post-launch or in a later title. That is not a commitment to add those features in any specific season.
