The Garmin Forerunner 570 is the better fit if you specifically want its newer generation and Garmin-listed phone-calling and voice-assistant features. The Forerunner 265 remains a capable AMOLED running and multisport watch, and can be the more sensible buy if its training tools meet your needs or its verified price is meaningfully lower. Garmin’s published specifications support comparing features and estimated battery life; they do not establish a universal performance improvement or a reason for every 265 owner to upgrade.
What is the real difference between the Forerunner 570 and 265?
Both are AMOLED GPS watches built for running, training, and multisport use. The 570 is the newer model and adds a more smartwatch-oriented interaction set: Garmin describes Bluetooth phone calling and voice-assistant support. The 265 already includes extensive running, health, and multisport features, so it is not simply a stripped-down alternative.

The comparison is not a controlled performance test. Garmin’s product information can establish listed capabilities and manufacturer battery estimates, but it does not show that the 570 delivers better GPS accuracy, longer real-world runtime, or a measurable training advantage for every runner.

Choose the Forerunner 570 if calling or voice assistance matters
Garmin lists Bluetooth phone calling and voice-assistant support for the 570. Those features make it the more natural choice if you want to interact with your phone through the watch as part of everyday use, as well as get a newer-generation running watch. Check the specifications for the exact size you intend to buy: the 570 is available in 42 mm and 47 mm versions, and specifications can vary by case size. Choose the Forerunner 265 if its established feature set is enough
The standard Forerunner 265 has detailed running and multisport tools, AMOLED display, music storage and control, smart notifications, Garmin Pay, and health and training metrics. If you do not need the 570’s calling or voice-assistant functions, those capabilities may matter more to your decision than the newer model name. Garmin Oman’s specification is the source for the detailed 265 figures and feature list in this comparison; it is not evidence of current US pricing or stock. See Garmin Oman’s Forerunner 265 specifications.
For current 265 owners, upgrade only for a specific reason
A working 265 does not become obsolete because a newer model exists. The clearest documented reasons to move to the 570 are wanting the newer product generation or its calling and voice-assistant support. The available manufacturer information does not establish a universal GPS-accuracy improvement, a measured real-world battery gain, or an upgrade benefit that every 265 owner will notice.

How do the Forerunner 265’s display and hardware compare?
Garmin Oman lists the standard 265 with a 1.3-inch (32.5 mm) AMOLED display at 416 × 416 pixels, a 47 g weight, 8 GB of memory, a 5 ATM water rating, and Garmin’s proprietary plug charger. Garmin describes the 570 as an AMOLED GPS running smartwatch with SatIQ and multiband GPS; its product page also lists a 5 ATM water rating and proprietary plug charging. Since the 570 has two case sizes, do not assume that dimensions or battery figures for one size describe the other.
These specifications describe different aspects of a watch rather than proving one has a superior display or is more comfortable. Fit, visibility, and control preferences are personal; check the precise case variant and manufacturer specifications before buying.

How does battery life compare?
Garmin’s figures are maximum estimates for defined modes, not measured results from a comparable real-world test. For the standard Forerunner 265, Garmin Oman lists the following. The 570’s detailed battery figures are not reproduced here because the indexed Garmin comparison table did not render for verification; its values should not be guessed or compared against the 265’s figures without a confirmed source for the exact 570 case size. Garmin Oman: Forerunner 265 specifications; Garmin’s Forerunner comparison page.
| Forerunner 265 mode | Garmin-listed maximum |
|---|---|
| Smartwatch mode | Up to 13 days |
| GPS-only GNSS | Up to 20 hours |
| SatIQ | Up to 16 hours |
| All-systems GNSS plus multiband | Up to 14 hours |
| GPS-only GNSS with music | Up to 7 hours |
| SatIQ with music | Up to 6.5 hours |
| All-systems GNSS plus multiband with music | Up to 6 hours |
Compare like with like: smartwatch mode is not comparable to continuous GPS, and music-enabled GPS use is not the same as GPS without music. Satellite settings, music playback, connected sensors, display settings, and how the watch is used can all affect runtime. Treat an “up to” figure as a mode-specific ceiling, not a promise for every training week.

What training, health, and multisport features does the 265 include?
Garmin Oman’s standard 265 specification lists GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, multi-frequency positioning, and SatIQ. Its listed sensors include wrist heart-rate monitoring, a barometric altimeter, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, and thermometer. Connectivity includes Bluetooth, ANT+, and Wi-Fi.

These tools can help organize training and review recorded data; health metrics are not medical diagnoses. Garmin also lists music storage and control, smart notifications, and Garmin Pay for the 265.

What software features are listed for the 570?
Garmin’s Q1 2026 feature update, dated February 24, 2026, lists the Forerunner 570 and 970 in its table for features including course planner, sports scores, Garmin Fitness Coach, sleep alignment, display colour modes, contextual voice alerts, and gear tracking. Garmin said free updates had begun rolling out and would continue over the following weeks. Actual availability can depend on the device, region, and installed software version; do not assume a feature is available on every watch immediately. Garmin Q1 2026 smartwatch and cycling computer feature update.
The update table’s inclusion of the 570 does not establish that the 265 receives the same features. Check the current feature list and software version for the exact model you own or are considering.
Are the 265 and 570 bands interchangeable?
Garmin Oman specifies a 22 mm industry-standard quick-release band for the standard Forerunner 265. That is useful when shopping for a replacement band for that model. It does not establish compatibility with either Forerunner 570 size: verify the exact watch variant’s band width and fit before ordering an accessory. Garmin lists proprietary plug charging for both product families; the specifications cited here do not validate a particular replacement cable or third-party charger.
How should you compare price and availability?
Current prices, discounts, and retailer stock have not been verified for this comparison, so there is no reliable price winner to name. Check live listings for the exact case size and watch model before purchasing, and compare the final price rather than an old launch or promotional figure. If the 265 has a substantial verified price advantage and its features cover your needs, that can outweigh the 570’s newer interaction features; if you value calling and voice assistance, decide whether their value to you justifies the difference.
For an apples-to-apples decision, compare the standard 265 with the specific 570 size you are considering, and keep the activity and GPS mode consistent when evaluating battery claims. Do not treat a 570 47 mm comparison as covering the 42 mm version.
