Start with what you want more of: varied action and discovery point toward Elden Ring; fantasy companions and difficult decisions point toward Dragon Age: Inquisition; an open-world story about consequential choices in a very different setting points toward Cyberpunk 2077. None reproduces all three sides of Geralt’s adventure. The best match depends on which part matters most to you.
What makes a game feel like The Witcher 3?
Similarity is a matter of preference, not a promise that another game will play or feel the same. CD PROJEKT RED’s official game page describes Geralt preparing for monster hunts with elixirs, blade oils, and two swords, in a dark-fantasy open world shaped by choices and their consequences. It calls the Continent “full of delightful and dreadful encounters with complex choices and consequences.”

That mix gives you three useful questions to ask before choosing your next game:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Combat: Do you want more action, a different level of challenge, or a new way to approach encounters?
- Story: Are you looking for character-focused storytelling, meaningful decisions, or a particular kind of fantasy narrative?
- Exploration: Do you want a world that invites wandering, or a new setting in which to discover places and stories?
A game can overlap with The Witcher 3 on one of these dimensions and diverge on the others. Use the descriptions below as preference matches, not as an objective ranking.

If combat and exploration matter most, consider Elden Ring
FromSoftware’s official Elden Ring page describes an open-world action RPG with a range of weapons, magic, and skills. It also emphasizes player choice in how to approach combat and exploration. That makes it a strong option if you want action and the freedom to discover a large world at your own pace.
The match is strongest on those two features—not on a promise of Witcher-style quest storytelling or dialogue. Consider what you most want to carry forward from Geralt’s adventure: if it is roaming and experimenting with combat, Elden Ring fits the brief; if it is a character-led story and intricate conversations, the other options may suit you better.
If you want fantasy, companions, and hard choices, consider Dragon Age: Inquisition
Dragon Age: Inquisition is the clearest fantasy-party-and-decisions match among these recommendations. BioWare describes it as an expansive, story-driven game with complex characters, challenging combat, and difficult decisions. EA’s official game page also highlights its multi-region world and your role leading a team of heroes.

- Perfect puzzling: Puzzles slowly increase in complexity enabling seamless progression and rewarding exploration.
Choose it if a fantasy setting, character relationships, and decisions are more important to you than reproducing Geralt’s solo monster-hunter routine. Its party focus and world structure make it a different kind of adventure, and its combat is not identical to The Witcher 3.
If you want open-world choices in a new setting, consider Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 shares an open-world RPG frame and an emphasis on choices that shape relationships and the story, according to CD PROJEKT RED’s official game page. It is a useful choice if you want another open-world narrative built around decisions, but not if you specifically want more medieval fantasy.
The change in setting is substantial: Cyberpunk 2077 is science fiction set in a large city, not a dark-fantasy journey across the Continent. Treat it as a match for open-world storytelling and consequential choices, rather than for The Witcher’s atmosphere or setting.

If you want more Geralt, check whether you played the expansions
If you have not played them, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine offer more stories in the same game rather than a new series to try. CD PROJEKT RED’s official The Witcher 3 page identifies both as story expansions with new characters, locations, and stories. This is the most direct option when what you want is more time with Geralt and the world you already know.
How to choose between these games
| Your priority | Consider | What overlaps with The Witcher 3 | What changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Combat options and discovery | Elden Ring | Open-world exploration and varied approaches to combat, as described on its official page. | It is an action-RPG feature match; the official description does not establish Witcher-like dialogue or quest storytelling. |
| Fantasy story, a team of characters, and difficult decisions | Dragon Age: Inquisition | Story focus, complex characters, combat, and difficult decisions. | It centers on leading a team and exploring multiple regions, rather than following Geralt’s solo monster-hunter journey. |
| Open-world narrative and consequential choices | Cyberpunk 2077 | Choices and relationships that affect the story and world, within an open-world RPG. | It moves from dark fantasy to science fiction and a large-city setting. |
| More of the same setting and protagonist | Hearts of Stone or Blood and Wine | New stories, characters, and locations with Geralt. | These are expansions for The Witcher 3, not separate games. |
Before buying, check the game’s current store listing for your platform and region. Platform support, editions, and physical availability can vary; confirm that the edition you want is listed for the system you own.
