If you want the claustrophobic unease, creeping dread, puzzles, or unsettling exploration associated with P.T., start with Visage: its developer explicitly says the game was heavily inspired by P.T. For a camera-centered haunted-house mystery, try MADiSON; for existential science-fiction horror, choose SOMA; and for a domestic space that warps around you, consider Layers of Fear. None is an exact substitute—the best fit depends on which part of P.T. you want to revisit.
Which game is closest to P.T.?
Visage is the clearest first pick if you want a documented connection to P.T.. SadSquare Studio, the developer, says: “Though we were heavily inspired by the brilliant and matchless P.T., we also drew upon influences from classic psychological horror games like Phantasmagoria and from more recent ones like Amnesia: The Dark Descent, as well as from horror movies like The Grudge.” SadSquare Studio describes Visage as a first-person survival and psychological horror game set in a house with a terrible history.

That influence does not make the games interchangeable. Visage is a survival-horror experience: its house changes, environmental clues reward exploration, and the player must avoid or evade threats while managing sanity. The Xbox listing gives its release date as October 30, 2020, and lists Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It also lists cloud play subject to a qualifying Game Pass plan. Platform and regional availability can vary, so check the relevant storefront before choosing a version.

MADiSON: camera-led exploration and puzzles
MADiSON is a first-person psychological horror game, according to its official site, which describes the game as out now. Its central tool is a possessed instant camera: the PlayStation Store listing says it lets the player connect the human world with the beyond while exploring, solving puzzles, and trying to survive. Pick it if using an object to uncover clues and work through a haunted mystery sounds more appealing than focusing on a direct P.T. influence. PlayStation lists a PS4 release date of July 8, 2022, and says the PS4 version is playable on PS5, though some PS4 features may be absent.
#1 Best Overall
SOMA: science-fiction dread and investigation
SOMA trades a haunted home for PATHOS-II, an underwater facility where resources are failing and machines seem to think they are people. The PlayStation listing emphasizes investigating terminals and documents and surviving by outsmarting or running from danger rather than fighting back. Choose it if you want an unsettling narrative and existential science-fiction setting more than a repeating domestic space. PlayStation lists its PS4 release date as September 22, 2015; the PS4 version is playable on PS5, though some PS4 features may be absent.
Layers of Fear: a house that shifts around you
Layers of Fear suits players drawn to the idea of a familiar home becoming uncanny. The Irish Journal of Gothic and Horror Studies describes its Victorian house as twisting through fear and decay, including spinning and seemingly endless rooms. Its Autumn 2018 discussion places the game in a first-person horror tradition of investigation, puzzle solving, evasive action, and threatening domestic spaces. This is a useful description of its design, not a current store or platform listing; verify the available edition and platform in your region before buying.
