If you want another game with Landstalker’s angled perspective, exploration, action combat and puzzle-led jumping, start with Alundra. It is the closest classic match in play feel and has a documented connection to Landstalker. Dark Savior is the next stop for Climax Entertainment’s related work, while Lady Stalker is a Japan-only spinoff that changes the jumping formula. For a modern project that explicitly cites Landstalker as an inspiration, keep an eye on Antediluvial: Yalroc Island.
What makes a game feel like Landstalker?
Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole is a Sega Genesis action RPG developed by Climax Entertainment and published by Sega. Its fixed, angled isometric view shapes more than the scenery: players explore connected spaces, fight in real time, solve puzzles and make platform-style jumps while judging depth from that unusual perspective. Those jumps are central to both traversal and puzzle solving.

That combination is the useful test for a follow-up recommendation. A game can share an action-RPG label or a developer without reproducing Landstalker’s jump-heavy spatial challenge. The fixed angle can make the world feel distinctive, but it can also make judging a jump difficult; whether that is appealing or frustrating depends on the player.

Alundra: the best first pick for similar play
Alundra is the strongest choice if you want an isometric action RPG built around jumping, real-time combat, equipment and demanding puzzles. PlayStation Blog’s retrospective links the games through shared staff and calls Alundra a spiritual successor. The post’s author recalls being told it was not a direct sequel, but that it looked related because some staff worked on both games.

It has its own identity rather than repeating Landstalker’s world. The protagonist enters the dreams of troubled villagers, with a hub village alongside physical and dream dungeons. The same retrospective describes its play as “straight action-RPG,” with jumping, equipment and real-time attacks. Read the PlayStation Blog retrospective.
Dark Savior: a related but different Climax game
Dark Savior is worth considering if the developer connection interests you more than an exact match. The Sega Saturn game carries forward Climax’s adventure lineage, but its 3D presentation and altered combat—including one-on-one battles—make it an experiment in a different direction, not a Landstalker substitute. Retrospectives discuss its differences from its predecessor; see RPGFan’s retrospective and Game Developer’s account.

Lady Stalker: an import-focused detour
Lady Stalker is a 1995 Japan-only Super Famicom spinoff. It retains an isometric view but removes jumping and uses a different battle system, so it is a poor first choice if Landstalker’s platform puzzles are what you want to repeat. It makes more sense for players exploring the series’ offshoots or seeking a regional deep cut. Hardcore Gaming 101’s overview covers its place in the series.
Antediluvial: Yalroc Island: a project to watch
The official project page describes Antediluvial: Yalroc Island as an isometric action RPG inspired by Landstalker, Majora’s Mask and Alundra. Its stated ideas include a three-day cycle, choices that affect the player’s path and time manipulation for puzzle solving. The page says a demo is coming in 2026, but gives no precise date; check the official project page for current status. It also links to the project’s Steam wishlist.
