But they are not like-for-like phones: the Fold8 opens into a 7.6-inch inner display, while the standard Pixel 11 is a conventional smartphone. The choice is mainly whether that foldable screen and its uses are worth the extra cost to you.
How much more does the Galaxy Z Fold8 cost?
At the U.S. entry prices listed by the manufacturers in 2026, the Galaxy Z Fold8 costs $1,899.99 before trade-in and the standard Pixel 11 starts at $899. That makes the Fold8 $1,000 more at list price. The comparison does not include promotions, trade-in values, taxes, or higher-storage configurations, and the gap should not be applied to other countries.

Samsung also lists U.K. recommended retail prices of £1,699 for 256 GB, £1,869 for 512 GB, and £2,209 for 1 TB. The cited Google source gives a U.S. starting price, not a matching U.K. Pixel 11 price, so there is no supported U.K. price-gap calculation here.
What is the main difference between these phones?
Galaxy Z Fold8: a phone that opens into a larger screen
The Fold8 has a 5.5-inch cover display for use while closed and a 7.6-inch inner display when unfolded. That larger surface is its defining distinction: it can make reading, media, and work involving more screen space more convenient than on a conventional phone. Samsung describes it as “a compact foldable designed to suit a variety of content for hours of immersive entertainment.”

Pixel 11: a conventional smartphone
The standard Pixel 11 does not fold. It is the relevant comparison if you want Google’s regular phone rather than a foldable. Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a separate model with a different form factor; Google announced a U.S. starting price of $1,899 for it in August 2026. It should not be mistaken for the $899 standard Pixel 11.

Performance: what the processor names do—and do not—tell you
Samsung specifies the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, while Google specifies Tensor G6. Google calls Tensor G6 “our fastest, most powerful chip yet”; that is Google’s product positioning, not an independent benchmark result. These processor names alone do not establish which phone performs better in a particular app, game, or workload.

Cameras: compare the listed hardware, not an unverified winner
Samsung lists a 50 MP wide and 50 MP ultra-wide camera system for the Fold8. Google lists a 48 MP main sensor on Pixel 11, plus a 5x telephoto camera with up to 30x Super Zoom. Those specifications show different camera offerings, but they do not establish which phone takes better photos or video. No independent side-by-side camera results are available in the cited sources.

Battery life and durability
Battery
The Fold8 has a listed 4,800 mAh battery. Samsung’s “up to 26 hours” video-streaming figure is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent endurance test. A comparable Pixel 11 battery-capacity figure and matched battery-life test are not established by the cited specifications, so the numbers do not support a direct battery-life verdict.

Water and dust resistance
Samsung lists an IP48 rating for the Fold8; Google lists an IP68 factory rating for Pixel 11. These ratings describe different protection classifications, not a guarantee that either phone will survive damage. For the Pixel rating, Google’s factory-rating qualification matters: it should not be read as protection under every real-world condition.
What the Fold8’s higher price buys—and what it leaves out
The price premium buys a foldable design with a 7.6-inch inner screen, along with Samsung’s listed processor, cameras, battery, and storage choices. Its larger display is most compelling if you expect to use that expanded screen regularly for reading, watching content, or tasks that benefit from more room.

There are also specific limits to the foldable experience: Samsung says the Fold8 does not support S Pen or FlexMode. If either capability is essential to how you plan to use a foldable, the Fold8 does not offer it.
