That could shorten the overall charge, even if the battery is larger—but Samsung has not confirmed the feature, and no S27 Ultra charging test is available.
What is the rumored charging change?
Rather than increasing peak wattage, the reported change would alter the charging curve: the phone could hold higher power for longer near the start of a charging session, when a battery can generally accept more power. PhoneArena’s October 6, 2026 report attributes this claim to leaker @WalleGalaxy and says the S27 Ultra may retain a 60W maximum. The report does not provide measured power curves or charge times, so the possible time saving is unverified. PhoneArena’s report

PhoneArena writer Ilia Temelkov described the rumor this way: “This upgrade won’t be based on a classic speed improvement, and the S27 Ultra may stick to the 60W charging, but it could sustain higher charging speeds for a longer period at the beginning of the charging cycle.” The statement is a description of a leaker claim, not a Samsung announcement.
Is the Galaxy S27 Ultra getting a bigger battery?
Capacity figures are also leak-derived, not official specifications. PhoneArena cites an earlier rumor of a 5,700 mAh battery. Separately, 9to5Google reports that GalaxyClub identified a 5,534 mAh rated cell and estimates that its marketed typical capacity could be around 5,700–5,800 mAh. Rated and typical capacity are different conventions, which helps explain why those figures need not conflict. 9to5Google’s report

For context, 9to5Google puts the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s rated battery at about 4,850 mAh and notes that Samsung has marketed a 5,000 mAh capacity for the Ultra line across several generations. That history explains why a rumored increase is notable, but does not confirm an S27 upgrade.
The reported capacity does not establish the battery’s chemistry. Silicon-carbon has appeared in rumor discussion, but the reporting cited here does not confirm that the S27 Ultra will use it.

What the S26 Ultra charging figures do—and do not—show
PhoneArena says Samsung claims the S26 Ultra can reach 75% in 30 minutes using up to 60W charging. That is Samsung’s claim for the S26 Ultra only; it is not evidence of S27 Ultra performance. PhoneArena also recounts one reviewer’s result for the S26 Ultra: 76% after 30 minutes and a full charge in 49 minutes. Those are that reviewer’s results, not a guaranteed outcome or a controlled comparison that can predict the S27 Ultra’s charging time. PhoneArena’s report

What remains unknown
- Samsung has not announced the S27 Ultra or confirmed its charging curve, peak charging power, battery capacity, or battery chemistry in the cited reporting.
- No independently measured S27 Ultra charging time, battery-life result, or long-term battery-health result is available in those reports.
- There is no verified estimate for how many minutes the alleged curve change might save. A larger battery could also affect charging time; the rumor does not quantify the balance.
Until an announcement and comparable tests are available, the useful phone-to-phone comparisons are measured charging time under a stated protocol, capacity with rated or typical convention identified, battery endurance, charging compatibility and accessories, and long-term battery health—not a rumored wattage or charge-time advantage.

What charger should you consider?
The rumor points to a possible 60W ceiling, making a USB-C PD PPS charger rated for up to 60W a reasonable category to consider, not a confirmed S27 Ultra requirement. Wait for Samsung’s official compatibility and accessory details before choosing a specific charger. The cited reporting does not establish whether a charger will be included.
