Samsung lists a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive refresh from 1Hz to 120Hz. It offers a large viewing area without a hinge or the need to unfold the phone.

Xiaomi 18 Fold: a compact outer screen and larger inner screen
MacRumors reported a 5.38-inch outer display and a 7.58-inch inner display, both using 120Hz LTPO technology. The outer screen is suited to phone-style tasks while closed; opening the device provides more space for reading, viewing, and working across content. The larger inner display is the central practical distinction, but it does not establish that the foldable is better for every user: the S26 Ultra remains a single-screen device with fewer steps between pocket and use.
How do their camera specifications compare?
Samsung lists a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and 12MP front camera. Samsung also calls 2x and 10x “optical quality zoom”; those are distinct from the stated 3x and 5x optical zoom levels.
The Xiaomi launch reporting cited here does not establish a comparable full camera specification. That is not evidence that the Xiaomi has fewer or weaker cameras. Nor do megapixel counts or zoom labels alone establish image quality. No independently verified hands-on or benchmark comparison is available here, so a camera-quality winner cannot be claimed.

What are the processor, battery, and storage details?
Samsung’s published specification names the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor and a 5,000mAh typical-capacity battery. The cited Xiaomi launch reports do not state processor or battery capacity, so a direct comparison on those points cannot be made from these figures.
Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement lists 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. ITHome reported these Xiaomi China configurations and launch prices:

These are reported China launch prices, not current international retail quotes. Samsung’s $1,299.99 starting price is specifically its U.S. launch price for the 256GB S26 Ultra. Without prices for the same market and date, matched storage configurations, and consistent tax and import assumptions, subtracting one figure from the other would be misleading.

ITHome reported that Xiaomi’s China-market 18 Fold started at 10,999 yuan for 12GB/256GB, with sales beginning September 10, 2026. The reported higher configurations range up to a limited ceramic 16GB/1TB model at 15,999 yuan. Those prices apply to the China launch and should not be treated as U.S. prices or as the cost of importing one.
There is no defensible overall price winner from these launch figures. A useful price comparison requires a common country, a matching storage tier where possible, current retailer pricing, and a clear treatment of taxes, import charges, warranty, and local support.

Is the Xiaomi 18 Fold available globally?
At the time of MacRumors’ September 2026 reporting, Xiaomi had not announced global availability for the 18 Fold. The report noted that earlier Mix Fold foldables had remained China-exclusive. That describes the reported status at that time; it does not guarantee the 18 Fold will always be limited to China.
Anyone considering an import should check the exact model’s network-band and carrier compatibility, software and update support, warranty coverage, return terms, and whether local service is available.
