The Galaxy S26 Ultra adds a 5x telephoto camera, S Pen support and Privacy Display; the Galaxy S26+ keeps a large QHD+ 120Hz screen in a lighter body. At US launch, the Ultra started $200 higher, but prices vary by storage and date, so compare the exact configuration before buying.
How the Galaxy S26 Ultra and S26+ compare
Samsung’s Ireland comparison, last updated March 11, 2026, lists the following specifications. Samsung cautions that models may vary by country, so confirm the processor and configuration for the regional model you intend to buy.

What the camera specifications mean
The Ultra has a higher-resolution main and ultrawide camera, an additional 5x telephoto camera and a higher stated digital-zoom ceiling. The Plus has a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide and 3x telephoto. These are differences in hardware and listed features; they do not establish that every Ultra photo will look better. No matched independent camera-quality test is cited here.
Price difference depends on market, storage and date
US prices have been reported on different dates and in different formats. Samsung’s February 25, 2026 launch announcement gave starting prices; its official March 2026 MSRP sheet lists specific unlocked storage configurations; and a later report described price increases. These figures should not be combined as though they were one current price list.

| US price basis | Galaxy S26+ | Galaxy S26 Ultra | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung launch starting price, announced February 25, 2026 | $1,099.99 | $1,299.99 | $200 |
| Samsung unlocked 256GB MSRP, March 2026 | $1,099.99 | $1,299.99 | $200 |
| Samsung unlocked 512GB MSRP, March 2026 | $1,299.99 | $1,499.99 | $200 |
| US starting prices reported October 1, 2026 by Tom’s Guide | $1,199 | $1,399 | $200 |
Samsung’s March MSRP sheet says prices may change without notice. Tom’s Guide’s October 1 report described later US price increases and said some Amazon listings still showed original prices at the time; those are dated reported prices, not a replacement Samsung MSRP sheet. Check the current price for the exact capacity, carrier and seller. These are US figures: local currency, taxes, offers and regional configurations can differ. Samsung said US general availability began March 11, 2026 and listed Amazon Stores among launch retailers.
Which model fits your priorities?
Choose the S26 Ultra if you will use its extras
- You want the additional 5x telephoto camera and the more flexible listed zoom hardware.
- You expect to use S Pen input or the Ultra-exclusive Privacy Display.
- You want the larger 6.9-inch screen or need the listed 1TB storage option.
Choose the S26+ if you want a large screen with less weight
- You want a 6.7-inch QHD+ 120Hz display but do not need the Ultra’s additional camera, S Pen or Privacy Display features.
- The 190g body is preferable to the Ultra’s 214g weight.
- The price for the same storage capacity is more important than the Ultra’s additional hardware.
What to check before buying
- Match storage and price. Compare the same capacity in your market and check the live price, carrier terms and any current offer. Do not treat the launch starting price as a guaranteed current price.
- Confirm the regional model. Samsung’s Ireland comparison lists different processors for the two phones and warns that models may vary by country. Verify the exact regional device rather than assuming the Ireland chipset applies everywhere.
- Decide whether the camera differences matter to you. The Ultra’s extra 5x telephoto and higher-resolution components are hardware advantages; they are not a substitute for a controlled comparison of finished photos.
- Weigh screen size against handling. The Ultra is 6.9 inches and 214g; the Plus is 6.7 inches and 190g.
- Look for comparable battery tests if runtime is decisive. The listed typical capacities are close, but mAh alone does not show how long either phone lasts in real use.
Battery capacity is not battery life
Samsung lists typical capacities of 5,000mAh for the Ultra and 4,900mAh for the Plus. That 100mAh difference does not establish which model lasts longer in everyday use. A useful runtime comparison needs test results from the same reviewer using comparable settings and methods; no such result is established here.
