The Galaxy S26 Ultra and Pixel 11 Pro take different approaches to camera hardware: Samsung lists separate 3x and 5x telephoto cameras alongside a 200 MP main camera, while Google lists a 48 MP 5x telephoto and an autofocus ultrawide with Macro Focus. Those specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos. The sources available do not include a controlled, matched test of these exact models, so a definitive camera winner is not supported.
How do the camera systems compare?
The figures below are manufacturer specifications: Google’s are for the US Pixel 11 Pro, while Samsung’s official release specifications are global. Megapixel count, aperture and zoom labels alone do not predict finished image quality.

The published specifications do not answer that question. They describe hardware and available modes, not comparative results for exposure, detail, color, motion, low light or video. No controlled head-to-head test of the Pixel 11 Pro and Galaxy S26 Ultra appears in the cited sources, so claims that one is categorically better would go beyond the evidence.

There is a qualified real-world account for the Samsung phone: in a review published March 31, 2026, Android Central’s reviewer described consistent images, balanced color and exposure, and fine detail, especially from the main camera. The reviewer also noted that portrait depth separation can fail in some scenes and that long-range zoom has limits. These are one reviewer’s observations after weeks of use and hundreds of photos, not lab measurements or a comparison with the Pixel 11 Pro. See the Galaxy S26 Ultra camera review.
Does the Pixel 11 Pro have better zoom?
Not on the basis of the maximum zoom numbers alone. The Pixel 11 Pro has one listed 5x optical telephoto camera; the S26 Ultra has separate 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras. Google’s “up to 120x” Pro Zoom and Samsung’s “up to 100x” digital zoom describe reach beyond those optical cameras, not equivalent image quality. Samsung’s 2x and 10x “optical quality” and Google’s optical-quality positions are manufacturer terms for zoom results; they are not extra physical lenses or a guarantee of quality equivalent to optical zoom.

How many cameras does the Galaxy S26 Ultra have?
Samsung’s listed rear-camera system has four cameras: a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide, a 10 MP 3x telephoto and a 50 MP 5x telephoto. Its specifications also list a 12 MP front camera. The Pixel 11 Pro’s listed system has three rear cameras—a 50 MP main, 48 MP ultrawide and 48 MP 5x telephoto—and a 42 MP front camera. These are manufacturer-listed camera counts; zoom modes do not add physical cameras.

Does the Pixel 11 Pro have a macro camera?
Google lists Macro Focus on the Pixel 11 Pro’s 48 MP ultrawide camera, which also has autofocus. That means the feature is associated with the ultrawide camera; it is not a separately listed macro lens. Samsung’s cited S26 Ultra specifications list an ultrawide camera but do not establish an equivalent macro feature.

What should you compare in real photos?
A useful comparison needs matched scenes and comparable framing. Check the following rather than treating specifications as a verdict:
- Main and ultrawide scenes: compare exposure, edge detail and framing. Try close subjects if Macro Focus matters to you.
- People, pets and moving subjects: inspect motion blur, missed focus and skin rendering. Android Central’s Samsung reviewer reported improved motion capture for pets or children, but that is not a Pixel-versus-Samsung test.
- Zoom: compare actual framing at 3x and 5x, then inspect higher zoom separately. Do not equate maximum digital zoom with a dedicated optical camera.
- Portraits and selfies: check subject separation, face rendering, focus and group framing. Google states a 103° front-camera field of view; the cited Samsung specifications do not state one.
- Night photos and video: use the same scene, movement, framing and settings. The listed camera hardware cannot settle low-light video performance.
What camera features does each phone list?
Pixel 11 Pro
Google lists Camera Looks, Pro controls, High-Res up to 50 MP, Pro Zoom up to 120x, Camera Coach, Add Me, Macro Focus, Instant Night Sight, Astrophotography, High-Res Portrait Mode, Face Unblur, Auto Unblur, Long Exposure, Action Pan, Real Tone Panorama, Auto Best Take, Frequent Faces and Top Shot. See Google’s Pixel 11 Pro specifications for its feature list. Feature presence alone does not show that a feature is unique to Google or better than a Samsung equivalent; availability and operation can depend on the camera app and market.

Galaxy S26 Ultra
Samsung’s cited release and specification sources establish the camera hardware and zoom labels described above, but do not provide an equivalent comprehensive feature list for the camera app. The listed capabilities therefore should not be treated as a complete feature-by-feature comparison.
When did these phones launch, and what were their announced prices?
Google said Pixel 11 Pro preorders opened August 12, 2026, with announced US pricing starting at $1,099; Google Store and retail partner shelf availability began August 20. That is the US launch price, not a current quote. See Google’s August 12, 2026 launch announcement. Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 series globally on February 25, 2026 and published the S26 Ultra camera specifications, but the cited sources do not establish a current Samsung US price or retailer inventory.
