The Galaxy S25 is the lighter choice, with a 6.2-inch display and Samsung’s stated seven-generation OS-upgrade and seven-year security-update commitment. The iPhone 16 Pro has a slightly larger 6.3-inch display and a native 5x telephoto camera, compared with the S25’s 3x telephoto. Both screens support refresh rates up to 120Hz. Neither phone is a universal winner: your operating-system preference, camera needs, and the live price for matching storage matter more than a single spec.
For US pricing, the figures available are not a like-for-like current comparison: Samsung’s store listed an unlocked 256GB S25 for $899.99 on October 7, 2026, while Apple’s $999 iPhone 16 Pro figure was its September 2024 launch starting price. Check both retailers for current prices at the same storage tier before deciding.

How much do the Galaxy S25 and iPhone 16 Pro cost?
The available US price figures do not show the current price difference between equivalent configurations. Samsung’s US store listing showed an unlocked 256GB Galaxy S25 at $899.99 when accessed October 7, 2026; Samsung’s US launch announcement had listed a 128GB S25 starting price of $799.99 in January 2025. Apple announced a $999 US starting price for the iPhone 16 Pro in September 2024. The Samsung store figure is a listing for 256GB, while both launch prices are historical starting prices, so they should not be compared as current, same-storage offers.

Which phone is easier to carry and use?
On the cited specifications, the Galaxy S25 is 37g lighter than the iPhone 16 Pro: 162g versus 199g. Its stated display diagonal is also 0.1 inch smaller. That combination makes the S25 the more weight-conscious option on paper; actual comfort also depends on hand size, case choice, and how you hold a phone.
Both displays support refresh rates up to 120Hz. The manufacturer specifications establish the refresh-rate ceilings and diagonal sizes, but they do not by themselves determine which screen looks better to an individual buyer.
How do their cameras and zoom differ?
The clearest hardware distinction is native telephoto reach. Samsung lists a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom on the S25; Apple lists a 12MP 5x Telephoto camera on the iPhone 16 Pro. The S25 also has a 50MP main and 12MP ultra-wide camera, while Apple lists a 48MP Fusion main and 48MP Ultra Wide alongside its telephoto.

Megapixel counts are not a reliable shortcut to overall image quality. The specifications cited here do not establish which phone takes better photos, performs better in low light, or produces superior video. If camera choice is decisive, compare samples and tests made under the same conditions, with the camera modes and software versions identified.
What is known about battery life and charging?
Samsung specifies a 4,000mAh typical battery capacity for the S25 and a 3,880mAh rated minimum. It says wired charging can reach 50% in around 30 minutes when using a 25W adapter and cable. That charging estimate is conditional on the specified equipment; the US store listing says a charger is not included.
Apple’s technical page describes its battery testing methodology but does not provide a directly comparable battery-capacity figure in the cited material. The available evidence also does not include a matched independent endurance test. A battery-life winner therefore cannot be determined from these specifications; a meaningful comparison would require both phones tested with the same workload, settings, and conditions.

How long will each phone get software updates?
Samsung states that the Galaxy S25 series will receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch. That is a clearly stated support commitment in Samsung’s S25-series materials.
The Apple pages cited for the iPhone 16 Pro do not state an equivalent guaranteed support duration. This does not establish how long Apple will provide updates; it means the sources used for this comparison do not support a directly matched commitment comparison. Samsung’s launch material also said certain Galaxy AI features would be free through 2025, but that dated condition does not establish their terms in October 2026.

Android or iOS: which ecosystem suits you?
Choose around the devices, apps, and services you already rely on. The S25 runs Samsung’s Android-based software, with One UI 7 and Galaxy AI identified in Samsung’s January 2025 launch announcement. Apple lists Apple Intelligence support for the iPhone 16 Pro. Apple’s 2024 launch announcement described a staged rollout, including an initial beta planned for the following month; that launch-era schedule is not a statement of current availability.

Feature availability and terms can change by software version, region, language, and date. The cited launch announcements do not establish current availability for every AI feature or current service terms, so check the manufacturers’ current documentation for a feature you specifically need.

Which phone should you choose?
- Consider the Galaxy S25 if lower weight, Samsung’s Android ecosystem, 3x optical telephoto, or Samsung’s stated update commitment are priorities.
- Consider the iPhone 16 Pro if you prefer iOS, use Apple’s ecosystem, or want the listed 5x telephoto camera and are comfortable with the higher listed weight.
- Compare prices before buying if budget is the deciding factor. The cited prices differ in date and storage configuration, so they do not establish which is cheaper today.
The available specifications do not establish an overall winner for processing performance, battery endurance, or camera image quality. Treat those as questions for current, controlled testing rather than conclusions drawn from chip labels, battery capacity, or megapixel counts alone.
