The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE and Xiaomi REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G trade different strengths, and their listed specifications vary by region. In the India listings, the REDMI has the larger display and a 9,000mAh typical battery; the Galaxy S24 FE has a dedicated 3x optical telephoto camera and Samsung’s stated seven-year software-support commitment. There is no reliable like-for-like price verdict without checking current prices for the same market and storage configuration.
How the India-listed specifications compare
This table uses Samsung’s published Galaxy S24 FE specifications and Xiaomi’s India specification page for the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G. Xiaomi’s global listing differs on some details, so do not assume every market’s handset has the same specification.

Which phone has the better display?
The REDMI has the larger listed panel at 6.83 inches, compared with 6.7 inches for the Samsung. Xiaomi India describes its display as 1.5K Super Sunlight AMOLED, while Samsung specifies FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X. Both listings go up to 120Hz. The names and resolutions come from each manufacturer’s own regional specification page, so the labels are not a direct independent quality rating.
If screen size and the listed resolution are priorities, the India REDMI specification is the more compelling paper case. That does not by itself establish brightness, color accuracy, viewing comfort, or overall display quality in use.

Camera systems: optical zoom is the key difference
The Galaxy S24 FE lists three rear cameras, including an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. Xiaomi’s India listing describes a two-camera rear system: a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide. That makes Samsung the clear choice on the stated hardware if a dedicated optical telephoto lens is important.
The REDMI lists a higher-resolution 16MP front camera than Samsung’s 10MP front camera, but megapixel count alone does not establish which phone takes better selfies. The specifications also cannot settle real-world camera quality, so avoid treating resolution or camera count as a substitute for comparative image testing.
Rank #2
- The Galaxy S24 FE packs a large 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, enhanced brightness and a “Vision Booster” mode — ideal for clear, bright visuals even outdoors.
Battery and charging: capacity is not a runtime test
Xiaomi India lists a 9,000mAh typical battery for the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, while Samsung lists 4,700mAh typical capacity for the Galaxy S24 FE. Xiaomi Global instead lists an 8,340mAh typical battery for its regional REDMI listing. Use the figure tied to the exact market and model rather than combining these variants.
The India REDMI listing specifies 67W charging and says the adapter is included, with a warning that box contents vary by sales region. Samsung’s US announcement says a 25W adapter and cable can reach around 50% in about 30 minutes under Samsung’s stated test conditions, and that the adapter is sold separately. Those disclosures are not a direct charging-speed test under matched conditions, and the Samsung accessory detail is specific to the cited US context. Check the local retail box before budgeting for an adapter.

Software support and regional versions
Samsung’s stated commitment for the Galaxy S24 FE is seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. Xiaomi India lists HyperOS 3 and Android 16 for the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, but the Xiaomi product pages examined do not state an equivalent support duration. This is a difference in published support commitments, not proof that the REDMI will receive no updates after a particular date.
Regional configuration matters beyond software and battery capacity. Xiaomi Global lists memory/storage options including 6GB/128GB, 6GB/256GB, 8GB/256GB, 8GB/512GB, and 12GB/256GB; Xiaomi India lists up to 8GB/256GB. Before buying across markets, verify the exact SKU, supported network bands, warranty coverage, and local availability.

Samsung’s US launch announcement gave the Galaxy S24 FE an original starting price of $649.99. That is historical launch pricing, not a current offer, and it should not be compared directly with the India rupee snapshots.

- Consider the India-listed REDMI for its larger screen or higher stated battery capacity. Its India page lists a 6.83-inch display and 9,000mAh typical battery; Xiaomi Global lists a different battery figure, so confirm the market version.
