The Galaxy S24+ is a measured upgrade over the Galaxy S23+ rather than a major camera-hardware jump. It adds a sharper, brighter display, more RAM, a slightly larger typical battery capacity and listed Galaxy AI features. The two phones share the same listed rear-camera megapixel setup. Whether the S24+ is worth buying depends largely on the price you can get for each model and whether its newer features matter to you.

Samsung’s comparison gives diagonal display measurements that include rounded-corner caveats. Capacity figures are specifications, not predictions of screen-on time or days between charges. The AT&T display measurement and Samsung’s brightness and resolution claims are not a controlled, like-for-like display test. Samsung’s comparison page and AT&T’s product listing provide the cited specifications and seller information.

What changes on the S24+?
A larger, higher-resolution display
The S24+ has a 6.7-inch QHD+ display, compared with the S23+’s 6.6-inch screen. Samsung also lists up to 2,600 nits peak brightness for the S24+. That makes the newer model the stronger choice on the published size, resolution and peak-brightness specifications, although those figures do not by themselves establish how the screens compare in every lighting condition.

Samsung lists 12GB of RAM in the S24+ and 8GB in the S23+. Both models are listed with 256GB or 512GB of storage, so the choices overlap. The additional RAM is a specification advantage for the newer phone, but this comparison does not establish a measured speed or multitasking gain.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
A modest increase in battery capacity
The S24+ has a 4,900mAh typical-capacity battery; the S23+ is listed at 4,700mAh. Samsung gives the S24+ a rated minimum capacity of 4,565mAh and cautions that actual battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns and other factors. The 200mAh difference should not be read as a guaranteed increase in runtime.
Different processors depending on the model and region
In Samsung’s US comparison, the S23+ uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy and the S24+ uses Exynos 2400. Do not assume the S24+ processor specification applies to every regional version: check the exact model sold in your market. The cited material does not provide independent performance testing to determine which is faster in real use.

Similar listed camera hardware
Samsung lists a 50MP wide, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP telephoto rear camera, plus a 12MP front camera, for both Plus models. The matching megapixel configuration means the S24+ is not a camera-resolution upgrade on these specifications. It does not prove that the two phones produce identical photos: software processing can differ, and the available evidence does not establish a measured camera-quality winner.

Samsung lists Live Translate, Transcript Assist and Photo Assist among the S24+’s Galaxy AI features. Transcript Assist has conditions, including a Samsung account and internet connection, as well as text limits in Samsung Notes. Samsung’s page says Galaxy AI features would be free until the end of 2025 on supported devices; that historical note does not establish what terms apply after that date. Check Samsung’s current feature terms before buying based on AI access. Samsung’s comparison and feature footnotes describe these functions and conditions.

How much more does the S24+ cost?
There is no reliable like-for-like price difference established here. AT&T’s listing, accessed October 7, 2026, says the S23+ is no longer available from that carrier and shows the S24+ at a $999.99 starting retail price or $27.78 per month with a 36-month installment agreement. AT&T notes that eligibility and tax terms apply, with full-price tax due at sale. This is one seller’s displayed S24+ offer, not a market-wide price.
Samsung’s comparison page has displayed amounts for both phones, but does not establish matching storage, condition or purchase terms; those figures also conflict with AT&T’s S24+ retail display. They should not be used to calculate a savings or price premium. Before deciding, compare the actual offers for the same storage tier and account for:

Should you upgrade from the S23+?
Choose the S24+ if its differences matter to you
The S24+ is the more suitable choice if you want the QHD+ display and higher listed peak brightness, 12GB RAM, the somewhat larger typical battery capacity, or Samsung’s listed Galaxy AI functions. It is also the newer generation: Samsung says the S24 series launched in January 2024, after the S23 series’ February 2023 launch, and identifies the S24+ as the S23+’s successor. Samsung’s product comparison provides that launch and successor context.

Keep or buy the S23+ if the offer is better
The S23+ remains a reasonable option if you find it at a materially lower price than an S24+ with the same storage and comparable condition, and you do not need the newer model’s listed differences. Make the decision using the offers actually available to you: the evidence here does not establish a current equivalent street price for both models.

- 6.8″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with a 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to ~2600 nits peak brightness — delivering a bright, sharp screen with smooth scrolling and great outdoor visibility.
Bottom line
The Galaxy S24+ improves the screen specifications, RAM and listed AI feature set, while the S23+ and S24+ share the same listed camera megapixel configuration. The S24+ is the straightforward pick for those upgrades; the S23+ can make better sense when its comparable-condition price is substantially lower. Check regional processor details, current AI terms and the full conditions behind any carrier offer before purchasing.
