To take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy S23, press the Side button and Volume Down at the same time, then release. For a long webpage, tap Scroll capture in the toolbar that appears. You can also use Palm swipe after enabling it in Settings.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Display the screen you want to save.
- Press the Side button and Volume Down simultaneously, then release. Samsung calls this “Button capture” in the Galaxy S23 series manual.
- Open Gallery to view the screenshot.
Use Palm swipe instead
If you would rather not press the physical buttons, swipe the edge of your hand across the screen from left to right or right to left. If the gesture is off, enable it at Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures > Palm swipe to capture. The gesture is unavailable while the keyboard is showing. Menu wording and availability can vary by software version and model. Samsung’s US motions and gestures guidance describes the setting and gesture.

Capture a long webpage with Scroll capture
- Take a regular screenshot using either method.
- When the capture toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture. The screen scrolls automatically as additional content is captured.
- Tap to stop when you have captured the section you need.
Scroll capture is offered when the content extends beyond one screen, but some apps and websites may not support it. If the control does not appear, the page may fit on one screen or the app may block this type of capture. Samsung Canada’s screenshot guidance notes these availability limits.
Edit, tag, share or find the screenshot
After capture, use the toolbar to write or draw on the image, crop it, add tags, or share it. To find saved images later, open Gallery and look in the Screenshots album.

When screenshots are blocked
Some apps and features prevent screenshots for security or privacy reasons; banking apps are one example. If capture is blocked, treat it as an app restriction rather than trying to bypass it. Samsung’s general screenshot support page describes these restrictions.
