The Galaxy S24 is a modest hardware refresh over the Galaxy S22: it has a slightly larger display, a higher-capacity battery, a higher-resolution selfie camera, and newer video recording specifications in the cited regional listings. Their listed rear-camera hardware is broadly similar. Whether the S24 is worth more depends on current local prices and the condition of the specific phone—not Samsung’s now-historical 2024 US MSRP.
Galaxy S22 vs Galaxy S24 specs
The figures below come from Samsung’s Singapore listing for the S22 and Saudi Arabia listing for the S24, so regional model specifications may differ. They are official specifications, not independent tests of image quality or battery runtime.

What the display and size difference means
The S24 is 1mm taller in the cited listings, while both are 70.6mm wide, 7.6mm thick, and listed at 167g. Its display is described as 6.2-inch class rather than 6.1 inches, with the same FHD+ resolution and Dynamic AMOLED 2X display family. The larger diagonal is a small change, not a jump to a different phone size category.

Battery capacity is higher on the S24, but runtime is not guaranteed
Samsung lists a 4,000mAh typical battery for the S24 and 3,700mAh for the S22. That capacity comparison does not translate directly into a specific number of extra hours: battery life depends on network, usage patterns, and other factors. A used S22 also needs to be judged by its actual battery health, which can be materially different from its original condition.
Camera hardware: similar rear setup, different front camera
Both phones are listed with a 50MP main camera, 10MP telephoto camera, and 12MP ultrawide camera, plus 3x optical zoom. Samsung describes the S24’s 2x option as “optical-quality” zoom via Adaptive Pixel; it should not be mistaken for another optical lens. The S24 has a 12MP front camera compared with 10MP on the S22, but megapixel count alone does not establish which phone takes better photos. Samsung’s cited specifications do not provide a controlled image-quality comparison.

- Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flat display with adaptive 48–120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness high enough for strong outdoor visibility — giving you vibrant, crisp visuals and smooth motion while staying compact.
Which phone is the better buy?
There is no reliable value verdict from the old MSRP alone. Compare actual offers in your market for equivalent storage, condition, and unlocked or carrier-locked status. The S24’s newer hardware and higher listed battery capacity may justify a premium, while a substantially cheaper S22 may still suit someone who values the shared rear-camera configuration and compact form. For a used S22, its battery condition and remaining software support are especially important to verify; the cited sources do not establish a complete model-by-model remaining update term.
- Compare the same storage capacity and the same unlocked/carrier status.
- For used or refurbished phones, check cosmetic condition, battery health, warranty, return terms, and seller reputation.
- Check the device’s update status and Samsung’s current support policy for your region rather than inferring future support from a manual listing or launch software version.
- Confirm the exact regional model and connectivity bands if buying across markets.
Samsung notes that the S24’s power adapter and data cable are sold separately; check regional box contents and compatible charging requirements before buying accessories (Samsung Galaxy S24 series announcement).
