Which option should you use?
| Option | Best when | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Preset ringtone | You want a quick choice from the tones available on the phone. | No separate audio file; availability may vary by carrier. |
| Custom ringtone | You want a particular sound or song. | A compatible audio file downloaded and stored on the phone. A streaming subscription by itself is not enough. |
If the ringtone you want is missing
- Check where the audio is stored: Samsung’s instructions require the file to be downloaded directly to the phone, rather than merely playable through a streaming service.
- Check the format: use MP3, WMA, AAC, or FLAC; convert M4A to a supported format.
- Browse folders: the file may not appear in the initial track list.
- Look for different labels: menu names and available controls can differ by software version, region, or carrier.
