How to enable on-device processing
- Open Settings on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
- Tap Galaxy AI.
- Turn on Process data only on device.
Samsung describes this control as restricting Galaxy AI processing to the device. The exact menu or availability may vary by software version; Samsung’s current support instructions are at Use features with Galaxy AI on your Galaxy phone and tablet.

This is a processing preference, not an offline switch for the entire Galaxy AI suite. Some tasks still require internet access, and Samsung says features can vary by device and software version.
Which Galaxy AI features Samsung lists as offline-capable?
Samsung’s S24-series feature guide classifies the following functions as usable offline. These are Samsung’s documented classifications for that series, not a guarantee for every Galaxy model or later software release.

That distinction matters because two actions inside the same app can have different requirements: Samsung Internet translation is listed as offline-capable, while summarizing a web page is listed as online-only. Enabling on-device processing does not remove an online requirement when the feature itself depends on a connection.
Set up Interpreter before you lose connectivity
For offline conversation translation, prepare Interpreter while you have internet access. Samsung’s setup instructions are for Galaxy devices and can vary with software and language availability.

- Open Quick settings and launch Interpreter.
- Choose the two languages for the conversation. Download a language pack if prompted.
- Allow microphone access when requested.
- Tap the microphone control and speak. Interpreter displays a transcript in the speaker’s language and a written translation for the other person; it can also read the translation aloud.
Samsung notes that supported languages can vary and may change. Its UK Interpreter instructions were updated on 14 November 2024, so check the language choices shown on your device rather than relying on an older published list: Samsung’s Interpreter setup guide.

- Check the Galaxy AI menu: If Process data only on device is absent, your model or installed software may not support that control.
- Check the specific feature: Galaxy AI support is not identical across devices; a feature available on an S24 model may not appear on another Galaxy device.
- Check language downloads: Interpreter may need its language pack installed before offline use.
- Check connection requirements: A feature marked online-only in Samsung’s device guide will not become offline-capable simply because the processing preference is enabled.
Samsung’s U.S. support page gives the settings path and warns that available features depend on device and software version. The S24-series guide is a useful model-specific reference, but your device’s own menu and current support information are the practical checks.
