The Galaxy A36 5G is the newer model and has the edge on announced software support and wired charging: Samsung promises up to six generations of Android and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates, plus 45W charging. The Galaxy A55 5G offers a 12MP ultrawide and 32MP front camera, compared with the A36’s 8MP ultrawide and 12MP front camera. Those are specification differences, not proof of better photos. There is no reliable single price difference to quote without a country, storage tier and current like-for-like listings.

To judge a deal, compare the A55 and A36 in the same country, at the same storage capacity, and in the same condition. Also check whether each listing is unlocked or tied to a carrier. An older model’s discount may make it attractive, but only the actual local prices can show whether it is better value.

Both models are listed with IP67 resistance. For the A36, Samsung describes the rating as based on lab submersion in up to 1 meter of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Samsung advises against beach or pool use and notes that resistance can diminish through normal wear. The rating should not be treated as a guarantee against water damage in every situation.
