The Logitech G305 does not pair over Bluetooth. It connects through the included LIGHTSPEED USB receiver, so it will not appear in your computer’s Bluetooth device list. Plug in that receiver, install one AA battery, and switch on the mouse.
Why the G305 does not appear in Bluetooth settings
The G305 uses Logitech G 2.4 GHz wireless technology, not Bluetooth. Logitech’s documented connection method is the included LIGHTSPEED USB receiver. Bluetooth pairing instructions for a laptop or phone therefore do not apply to this mouse. Logitech’s G305 technical specifications identify its wireless technology, and its connection instructions describe receiver setup.

Connect the G305 with its LIGHTSPEED receiver
- Open the mouse. Remove the top keyplate and take the small USB receiver out of the battery compartment.
- Install one AA battery. Fit it in the battery cage, then replace the keyplate.
- Connect the receiver to the computer. You can plug it directly into a USB port or use the included extension cable.
- Switch on the mouse. Logitech says it connects automatically after setup; there is no Bluetooth pairing step.

If the receiver is connected but the mouse is unreliable
Try improving the receiver’s position before looking for a software pairing fix. Logitech recommends keeping the receiver within 20 cm of the mouse in noisy environments and separating it from routers or other 2.4 GHz devices by at least 2 m. Use the extension cable to move the receiver closer to the mouse and farther from potential sources of interference. These distances are placement guidance, not a guarantee of reliable operation in every environment. Logitech lists a wireless range of up to 10 m (33 ft), but obstacles and interference can affect actual performance. - Check that the receiver is fully inserted into a USB port.
- Move the receiver closer using its extension cable.
- Keep the receiver and mouse away from nearby routers and other 2.4 GHz devices, following Logitech’s stated distances as guidance.
- Confirm that the mouse is switched on and has one AA battery installed.
A Unifying receiver will not work with the G305
The G305 needs its LIGHTSPEED receiver; a Logitech Unifying receiver is not compatible. Logitech documents this limitation for its gaming mice, including the G305. Check Logitech’s Unifying receiver compatibility guidance if you are unsure which receiver you have.

Logitech’s cited connection instructions cover initial setup and receiver placement; they do not establish a general software re-pairing sequence for a G305 that remains disconnected. Avoid trying Bluetooth pairing or assuming a Unifying receiver can be paired to it. If the original LIGHTSPEED receiver is missing or the mouse still fails after the setup and placement checks, consult Logitech’s G305 Setup Guide, its Getting started with G305 page, or Logitech support for help with your device. The cited technical specifications do not list spare parts, so verify compatibility and authenticity with Logitech before buying a replacement receiver.
