Fralculator is a desktop calculator built to show how an expression is evaluated, not just its final answer. Its author describes a worked trace in mathematical notation alongside plain-English explanations, with an offline-oriented design and tools that extend beyond arithmetic. The project write-up was published October 1, 2026; its feature and privacy claims are the author’s account, not an independent review or network audit. View the Fralculator project.
How Fralculator shows its work
The author describes the math engine as a tokenizer, recursive-descent parser, and evaluator. As it reduces subexpressions, the evaluator records a trace. That trace is represented as data and used by both the numbered mathematical display and the natural-language explanation.

Example: 3 × (4 + 5)
-
Evaluate the parenthesized expression: 4 + 5 = 9.
-
Substitute that result: 3 × 9 = 27.
The intended result is 27, with the intermediate operation made visible. The project write-up also says unary minus binds outside exponentiation in the expression -3^2, so it is interpreted as -(3^2). These describe intended implementation behavior; they are not independently tested results.
What the calculator includes
Fralculator is described as an Electron application built with React, Vite, and TypeScript. Its stated feature set includes:

-
Voice input using Whisper-tiny in a WebAssembly build running in a worker.
-
EHCalc, a cybersecurity reference toolkit covering subnet calculations, hashes, encoders, password utilities, and port lookup.
For now, explanations are rule-based. The author identifies a local language model as a roadmap idea, not a current feature, so Fralculator should not be described as an AI- or LLM-powered calculator.
Rank #3
- Makes understanding math and science topics quicker and easier — ideal for middle school through college
- Built-in MathPrint feature allows you to input and view math symbols, formulas and stacked fractions exactly as they appear in textbooks
- Graph in vibrant colors to make faster, stronger connections. Powered by a TI Rechargeable Battery that can last up to one month on a single charge.
- 4-year subscription for the TI-84 Plus CE online calculator included with purchase
- Lightweight yet durable enough to withstand the demands of the classroom year after year
What “offline-first” means here
The author says the application is offline by default, with two network exceptions: an optional currency-rate fetch and the initial voice-model download. The first voice-model download is reported as approximately 40 MB. The author says it is cached in IndexedDB for later use, audio is processed in a worker, and audio bytes do not leave the machine after the model has been acquired.
Those are project statements, not independently verified network behavior. The write-up does not state supported speech languages, minimum hardware requirements, or measured voice accuracy. Readers who need to verify network activity or handle sensitive data should assess the application themselves rather than treating the author’s description as an audit.
EHCalc: useful reference tools, not a security endorsement
The author describes EHCalc as a built-in cybersecurity reference toolkit. Its stated capabilities include:
Rank #4
- Color Screen. The screen size is 320 x 240 pixels (3.5 inches diagonal) and the screen resolution is 125 DPI; 16-bit color

Port lookup with risk notes.
The author says password generation uses crypto.getRandomValues() with rejection sampling and that generated passwords are not written to storage. These descriptions are not an independent security audit; do not rely on EHCalc alone for security-critical decisions.
Best Value
- Newest in the TI-84 series: Built for everyday classroom use
- Icon-based home screen: Popular math tools are front and center for faster, more intuitive navigation
- 3x faster performance: A powerful processor delivers quicker calculations and smoother graphing

Platforms, packages, and installation caveats
The author reports Windows and Linux packaging in five formats. The write-up says Windows binaries are unsigned and may trigger a SmartScreen warning, and recommends AppImage as a starting point on Linux.
| Platform | Formats reported by the author | Caveat |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | NSIS installer and portable .exe |
Reported binaries are unsigned and may prompt a SmartScreen warning. |
| Linux | AppImage, .deb, and .rpm |
The author recommends starting with AppImage. |
These are formats reported in the October 1, 2026 project write-up; current release artifacts and installation instructions have not been independently confirmed. Check the project’s release information before downloading. Electron documents general release and update mechanisms, but that documentation does not establish that Fralculator currently offers automatic updates: Electron publishing and updating documentation.
What is known—and what remains unverified
The project author identifies Fralculator as an MIT-licensed desktop project and names its source repository as github.com/fralsare/fralculator. Current release artifacts and the repository’s license-file state have not been independently confirmed. The available account also provides no independent benchmarks, measured accuracy results, user-study findings, or adoption statistics. Treat feature descriptions, offline claims, and packaging details as author-reported rather than independently validated.
