First identify whether you are seeing low rendering performance, frame-time stutter, delayed input, or network lag. Then use the platform-appropriate steps below, retesting after each major change. A frame counter that falls points to graphics, CPU, thermals, drivers, settings, or game files; teleporting players and delayed matchmaking point to the connection or a live service issue.
Identify what is actually going wrong

Changing DNS, restarting a router, or buying an Ethernet cable cannot raise FPS when the GPU is the bottleneck. Those measures are for connection symptoms.
Check for a current Fall Guys issue first
If the drops began after a Fall Guys, Windows, graphics-driver, Steam, or Epic Games Launcher update, record when they started and test another game. Check Epic’s live-issues and system-status guidance, which links to its public tracker, Server Owl, social channels, news, and status resources. A confirmed incident or newly introduced regression is not something repeated reinstalls can reliably repair.

PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch
- Fully close Fall Guys rather than leaving it suspended.
- Restart the console.
- Install pending game and system updates.
- Check Epic’s live-issue and server-status pages.
- Run another game to see whether the console has a wider performance problem.
- Reinstall Fall Guys only after those checks fail, then report a persistent platform-specific issue with its time and mode. Nintendo routes Switch players to Epic’s Fall Guys support.
Do not apply Windows commands, PC driver-panel settings, or the PC cache-folder procedure to a console. Epic’s documented maximum console refresh rate is 60 Hz.
Mobile
Mobile performance depends on the device, operating-system version, temperature, battery state, and available settings. PC minimum specifications and PC cache instructions do not apply. Close other apps, update the game and operating system, avoid playing while the device is overheating or charging in a hot environment, and report the model, OS version, time, and game mode if the issue persists.
Official PC baseline
Epic lists these minimum PC specifications: 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5 or AMD equivalent, 8 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7950, broadband internet, and 2 GB of available storage. A gamepad is recommended. These are minimum requirements, not a promise of 60, 120, or 144 FPS; high-refresh-rate play needs headroom beyond the baseline.
Safe PC fixes, in the right order
Restart Fall Guys after each major change so you know what helped.
- Restart the game and PC. This clears a temporary driver, launcher, or background-process fault.
- Update Windows and the graphics driver. Epic recommends current operating-system and graphics-driver versions, but an update is not a guaranteed cure. If the problem began immediately after a driver update, note that regression when checking official issue reports.
- Close interference. Temporarily close browsers playing video, recording software, GPU and chat overlays, hardware-monitoring overlays, RGB utilities, unnecessary launchers, VPNs, and third-party antivirus gaming features. Test with protection disabled only briefly or with a properly scoped game exception, then restore it.
- Verify the game files. In Epic Games Store, use Fall Guys’ library management options and choose the verification command. In Steam, use Verify integrity of game files. Epic says verification can replace missing or corrupted files. Steam’s technical-support entry point is this support page.
- Check power and temperature. On a laptop, connect the charger and use an appropriate performance power mode. Watch GPU/CPU temperature and utilization. If performance is good when cool but declines as the machine heats, investigate airflow and thermal throttling rather than changing network settings.
Use measurements to find the bottleneck
These are general PC diagnostics, not Fall Guys-specific benchmark results.
- If lowering resolution or visual settings produces a large FPS improvement while GPU utilization is high, the GPU or VRAM is likely limiting performance.
- If lowering settings barely changes FPS, investigate CPU per-core load, background tasks, frame pacing, drivers, thermals, or a game-side issue.
- If the average FPS is high but the frame-time graph spikes, call it stutter or poor frame pacing rather than simply low FPS.
- If the issue occurs only with many beans or effects visible, record that pattern for support; it helps distinguish a scene-dependent limit from a general system fault.
Test display and frame-rate settings
Check Windows’ selected monitor refresh rate, the monitor’s input, and whether Fall Guys is using the dedicated GPU rather than an integrated chip. Test fullscreen and borderless modes, adaptive-sync settings such as G-SYNC or FreeSync, and a sensible frame-rate cap one change at a time. These are controlled troubleshooting tests, not guaranteed Fall Guys fixes.

Epic’s refresh-rate guidance says consoles use 60 Hz; on PC, VSync on caps the game at 60 Hz, while VSync off allows the computer’s display settings to be used. VSync can reduce tearing but may add latency or produce uneven behavior when the system cannot hold the synchronized rate. Turning it off can expose tearing and increase load. A stable cap often feels better than an uncapped rate that repeatedly swings, but the best cap depends on your monitor and hardware.
If the PC is below or barely above minimum, Epic’s internal guidance includes lowering settings and monitor resolution and testing with VSync off. Do not promise a particular FPS number.
Clear caches and repair dependencies
Clear the Fall Guys cache
Epic’s technical-support procedure is:
- Close Fall Guys and the Epic Games Launcher.
- Open File Explorer and go to
C:Users<your username>AppDataLocalLowMediatonic. - Delete only the
FallGuys_clientfolder. - Restart the launcher and game.
Cached data can be regenerated; this is not a guaranteed FPS fix. Do not delete the entire Mediatonic directory. See Epic’s Fall Guys crash and technical-issues guide.
Reinstall Epic Online Services/Easy Anti-Cheat components
This is more relevant to launch and anti-cheat failures than ordinary GPU-limited FPS drops. In the Epic Games Launcher library, find Fall Guys, click the three dots, choose Manage, click the folder icon beside Uninstall, open EpicOnlineServices, run EpicOnlineServicesInstaller, install it on the appropriate main disk, and relaunch.
Repair Visual C++ only when components are damaged
Epic recommends repairing both the x64 and x86 Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages when missing or damaged runtime components are suspected. This is a repair step, not an FPS booster.
Run Windows System File Checker
- Press the Windows key and type
cmd. - Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
- Enter
sfc /scannowand wait for it to finish. - Restart Windows and retest.
Do not use registry edits, unofficial DLL packs, driver debloaters, registry cleaners, or “FPS booster” utilities. Epic warns against registry editing in its relevant Windows support guidance.

If the problem is network lag instead
Use this branch for rubber-banding, teleporting players, disconnects, matchmaking failures, party errors, or actions that arrive late while rendering remains smooth. Epic’s connection troubleshooting recommends:
- Check service status first.
- Test a wired connection where possible and restart the router.
- Synchronize the device clock.
- Review firewall and antivirus exceptions without leaving protection disabled.
- Disable a VPN for testing.
- Try DNS changes only as a later connection experiment.
These steps address connectivity, not a frame counter falling from 120 to 30 FPS.
When to stop troubleshooting and contact Epic
Submit a support request when the issue survives restarts, updates, file verification, cache cleanup, background-app testing, and the relevant platform steps—or when it clearly began with a current update. Include:
- Platform, country, and PC hardware or exact console/mobile model.
- Epic account or support/Steam ID as requested by the form.
- Date and time, time zone, round or mode, and whether other games are affected.
- Whether Fall Guys, Windows, the driver, Steam, or the launcher changed beforehand.
- Every step already attempted.
- On PC, DxDiag, MSInfo, and game logs when requested.
- Ping results, a speed-test screenshot for connection symptoms, and an optional video showing the frame counter or rubber-banding.
Give the support team the exact symptom—FPS drop, frame-time stutter, input delay, or network lag—rather than describing all of them as “lag.”

Should you buy hardware?
Try the software and diagnostic steps first. Consider a GPU or system replacement only if the machine cannot meet the official minimum, lowering resolution materially improves performance and the GPU is consistently saturated, or persistent thermal throttling is confirmed. A higher-refresh-rate monitor is not useful for a console’s documented 60-Hz output or for a PC that cannot sustain the desired rate. Cooling improvements make sense only when measurements show overheating. An Ethernet cable can help packet loss and rubber-banding, not GPU rendering.

Why does Fall Guys drop to 30 FPS?
A 30-FPS floor can result from a GPU/CPU limit, thermal throttling, a frame-synchronization setting, a driver or background task, damaged files, or a game-side regression. Compare performance at lower resolution and check utilization and temperatures before changing network settings.

Does lowering graphics always fix drops?
No. It helps when the GPU or VRAM is limiting performance. If FPS barely changes at low settings, investigate CPU load, frame pacing, thermals, drivers, or an update-related issue.
Does VSync reduce FPS?
In Fall Guys, Epic says VSync on caps PC output at 60 Hz. It can reduce tearing but may add latency or unevenness if the system cannot maintain synchronization; VSync off permits the display settings to be used and may show tearing.

Can Wi-Fi cause FPS drops?
Wi-Fi can cause rubber-banding, packet loss, disconnects, and delayed actions. It does not normally lower the GPU’s rendered FPS. Diagnose the symptom before changing the network.
Is Fall Guys capped at 60 FPS?
Do not generalize that claim. Epic documents 60 Hz on consoles and a 60-Hz cap on PC when VSync is enabled; with VSync off, PC behavior follows the computer’s display settings.
Should I reinstall the game?
Reinstall only after restarting, updating, verifying files, clearing the relevant cache, checking overlays and temperatures, and reviewing live issues. Reinstallation will not fix every driver, thermal, display-sync, or server problem.
