What kind of event can you propose?
Founder Summit Week runs November 1–7, 2026. TechCrunch’s Side Events program is for in-person events that connect Summit attendees with Boston’s local tech community. Suggested formats include mixers, career showcases, panels, meetups, happy hours, workshops, morning runs, fireside chats and cocktail hours. Hosts create and run their own event rather than joining a centrally produced format.

The main Founder Summit takes place Wednesday, November 4, at SoWa Power Station in Boston. Its audience includes founders at different company stages, investors and experienced entrepreneurs, with programming on fundraising, AI-native companies, leadership, hiring and company growth. TechCrunch’s official Side Events page describes a 1,100+ founders-and-VC audience; its October 2 last-call article separately says 1,000+ tech leaders are expected in Boston. These are different figures from different TechCrunch materials, not a single reconciled attendance estimate.

Eligibility, dates and timing rules
- Location and format: The event must be live and in Boston or surrounding areas; virtual events do not qualify.
- Preferred dates: TechCrunch prioritizes events held during November 1–7.
- November 4 exception: Events on Summit day must start at 5:00 p.m. ET or later. The official FAQ says other dates have no time restriction.
- Age limits: Events are 18+. If alcohol is served, guests must be 21+. Hosts are responsible for enforcing the age rules and screening attendees before entry.
- Number of events: TechCrunch is prioritizing one event per host.
What hosts are responsible for
Applying and being included in the lineup have no fee, but the host pays the event’s own expenses. TechCrunch states: “As the event host, you are responsible for developing your event idea, executing it, paying for all costs associated with the event, promoting it, managing registrations, managing your event landing page/registration form, managing event communications, and any other operations or legal issues surrounding your event.”
In practice, that means planning around venue, food and beverage, staffing, production and other operational needs. A panel or meetup may involve less food-and-drink coordination than a happy hour or cocktail event, but each still needs a suitable Boston-area venue and a workable staffing plan. TechCrunch does not cover these costs simply by listing an approved event.

What approval and promotion do—and do not—mean
Submitting an application is not acceptance. TechCrunch Events reviews applications, and an event must be approved to appear as an official Side Event. As its October 2 announcement puts it: “Applying does not guarantee your event will be accepted or hosted as an official TechCrunch Founder Summit Side Event.”
