The legitimate free way to earn V-Bucks in Fortnite is to progress through the current Battle Royale Free Pass or Battle Pass. Epic does not offer free V-Bucks to every Save the World player: that mode’s V-Bucks rewards are reserved for legacy Founders. Treat websites, bots, or messages promising a V-Bucks generator as suspicious.
Legitimate ways to get free V-Bucks
Progress through the Battle Royale pass
Epic says players can earn V-Bucks by progressing through the Free Pass and Battle Pass. Each season includes a Free Pass, alongside a purchasable Battle Pass. The rewards are seasonal, so open the current pass in Fortnite and check its reward track; Epic’s support information does not establish a fixed amount that every player can earn each season. Save the World: V-Bucks are limited to Founders
Save the World became free-to-play on April 16, 2026, but downloading it does not give every player a way to earn V-Bucks. Epic says free players earn X-Ray Tickets for that mode’s shop. V-Bucks gameplay rewards remain available to Founders—players who purchased Save the World before June 29, 2020—through Daily Quests, Mission Alerts, Storm Shield Defense missions, and Challenges. Epic lists direct purchases, V-Bucks cards, Fortnite Crew, and Starter or Quest Packs as paid ways to obtain V-Bucks. Its Battle Royale support page has described Fortnite Crew as granting 1,000 V-Bucks monthly, but that benefit can change; check the current Crew terms before subscribing. How to spot free-V-Bucks scams
Epic Games Player Support warns: “Don’t trust any suspicious offers for Epic Games products like free titles or V-Bucks on external sites. Any real offers will be displayed in the Epic Games Store or on the official Epic Games websites or social media channels.” Read Epic’s guidance on free V-Bucks offers.
Epic says it does not partner with third-party V-Bucks sellers. Unofficial listings may take your money without delivering currency or put your account details at risk. Third-party Discord or Telegram bots can also act on an account and spend V-Bucks if granted access. Do not provide your password, authentication codes, or account permissions to a generator, seller, or bot. For purchases, Epic lists the in-game V-Bucks store, Epic Games Store, Fortnite Item Shop on fortnite.com, and official cards from authorized retailers as channels to use. Why your V-Bucks balance may differ by platform
Pass-earned V-Bucks, Quest Pack V-Bucks, and Save the World V-Bucks are shared across platforms, according to Epic. Purchased V-Bucks follow platform-specific wallet rules: Nintendo Switch purchases are not shared with other platforms and cannot be used in the Fortnite Web Shop. Epic also documents a Korea-specific exception for PC purchases. Items bought with V-Bucks are available on platforms where you use Fortnite. Check Epic’s current V-Bucks balance sharing guidance if a balance looks different after switching devices.
