Neither option is always the better deal. Buy V-Bucks when you want a specific amount of currency and nothing else. Fortnite Crew may offer better value if you also want that month’s Crew Pack and premium access to its included passes. Compare the Crew price shown for your region and platform with what you would actually spend on V-Bucks—and count only benefits you’ll use.
What changed in Fortnite pricing in March 2026?
Epic Games announced on March 10, 2026, that changes would begin March 19. The Battle Pass price and its completion reward both became 800 V-Bucks, while the monthly Crew V-Bucks grant fell from 1,000 to 800. Epic said, “The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills.” Read Epic’s announcement.

Epic listed these U.S. V-Bucks pack examples in the announcement. Prices in other regions can differ, and pack tiers do not establish one universal value per V-Buck.

What does Fortnite Crew include?
Epic’s current Crew information lists a monthly Crew Pack and access to premium rewards from the Battle Pass, Music Pass, LEGO Pass, and OG Pass while the subscription is active. The subscription also grants 800 V-Bucks per month following the March 2026 change. See Epic’s Fortnite Crew page for current benefits.
The official listing does not establish one globally applicable current Crew price. Use the charge displayed for your platform and region rather than treating an older price as current. Epic’s November 20, 2024 announcement gave a historical price of $11.99 per month; that figure is not a current universal price. See Epic’s 2024 announcement.

When buying V-Bucks is better value
- You want currency for a particular item or purchase, not a bundle of subscription benefits.
- You prefer a one-time purchase over a subscription that renews monthly until canceled.
- You would not otherwise use the current Crew Pack or premium rewards from the included passes.
- You want to choose a pack size based on your immediate need and the price available in your region.
Buying V-Bucks is the more direct comparison: weigh the price of the pack you need against the amount of currency you want. A larger pack may have a different effective price per V-Buck, so use the listed pack price rather than assuming a fixed exchange rate.

- You want that month’s Crew Pack as well as V-Bucks.
- You expect to use premium rewards in one or more of the passes included while your subscription is active.
- The Crew price shown in your region compares favorably with the currency purchase you would otherwise make, after accounting for benefits you genuinely value.
Do not treat every included pass or cosmetic as savings automatically. A benefit has value to you only if you would want or use it. If you already own a pass, Epic’s cited information supports active premium access; it does not establish a universal reimbursement or cash-equivalent credit for a pass bought earlier.

How the Battle Pass reward compares with Crew’s monthly grant
The Battle Pass costs 800 V-Bucks from March 19, 2026, and awards 800 V-Bucks on completion. That completion reward can cover a subsequent 800-V-Buck Battle Pass if you complete the current one and keep the currency for that purpose. It is separate from Crew’s monthly 800-V-Buck grant; do not count the Battle Pass reward as part of Crew.

Crew renews monthly until canceled. Review the subscription terms and manage cancellation through the platform where you subscribed; do not assume a one-month subscription will stop renewing on its own. Epic’s terms also warn that V-Bucks received may not be redeemable on other platforms. Check Epic’s V-Bucks card information and the applicable redemption terms for the platform you use.

Retail V-Bucks cards are available at select retailers, but availability and redemption can be restricted by region or platform. Before buying one, verify that the card’s region and redemption rules match your account and the device or platform where you intend to use the balance. Epic explains card redemption here.

A practical way to decide
- Set your goal: write down the V-Bucks purchase or cosmetic you want, and whether you also want this month’s Crew Pack or premium pass rewards.
- Check local prices: compare the Crew charge displayed for your region and platform with the V-Bucks pack price you would pay there.
- Value only benefits you will use: include a Crew Pack or pass only if it matters to you; do not count access to a pass as a refund for one you already bought.
- Account for billing and restrictions: include recurring renewal in the decision, and verify where the V-Bucks balance can be spent.
- Choose the option that matches the goal: buy currency for a defined one-off need; choose Crew only when its ongoing benefits justify its local monthly charge.
