Choose the reset route your tablet can use

Both options erase local data. If neither route is available, contact Samsung support or a service center for guidance rather than trying to bypass account verification.

Before resetting, understand what will be lost
A factory reset removes personal information and settings stored on the tablet. Back up the device first if you can still access it. Do not count on recovering files that were not backed up. Samsung describes backup and reset consequences on its tablet reset support page, last updated 25 June 2026.

Resetting clears the lock locally; it does not establish ownership or bypass this verification. If you are the owner but cannot verify the account, use Google’s account-recovery process or contact Samsung support. Samsung advises contacting a service center if verification cannot be completed; its factory-reset guidance covers this issue.

Reset a Samsung tablet through recovery mode
Samsung’s forgotten-lock instructions describe turning off the tablet, connecting it to a computer by USB, and using hardware buttons to open Android recovery. The combination varies by model, so check the instructions for your exact tablet before proceeding; do not assume one button sequence works for all Samsung tablets. Use a compatible USB data cable only if the model’s instructions call for it. A cable does not unlock an account or remove FRP. See Samsung’s forgotten-lock and reset instructions.
- Confirm that you accept the loss of data stored on the tablet. Back it up first if access is still possible.
- Look up the current recovery-mode instructions for the exact tablet model, including its button combination and any USB connection requirement.
- Power off the tablet and connect it to a computer over USB if the model-specific instructions require this.
- Use the specified hardware-button combination to open Android recovery.
- Use the volume buttons to highlight Wipe data/factory reset, then confirm with the key indicated for that model.
- When the reset finishes, select Reboot system now.
- Complete setup. If prompted, verify the Google account previously registered on the tablet.
Recovery menus and button behavior can differ by model and software version. If the tablet does not enter recovery, stop and recheck the instructions for its exact model rather than trying unrelated combinations.

Erase the tablet with Samsung Find
Remote erase is an option only if it was prepared before the lockout. Samsung says the tablet must be on and connected to the internet, associated with a Samsung account, and have remote controls or tracking enabled. If any prerequisite is missing, the service may not be able to erase the device. Check Samsung’s Find service instructions for the current interface and steps.

If you cannot finish setup after the reset
If setup requests the Google account previously used on the tablet, enter that account’s credentials. If you have forgotten them, recover the account through Google. Do not use FRP-bypass instructions: the reset does not authorize access without the ownership check. If you are the legitimate owner and still cannot verify the account, contact a Samsung service center; Samsung’s support guidance may ask you to bring proof of purchase when seeking help for an inaccessible device.
