It is not a blanket promise to pay every travel cost: eligibility, the certificate, benefit limits, excesses and exclusions determine what is covered. The available October 2024 policy document lists trip limits of 30, 45 or 60 days; verify the current official PDS and your certificate before relying on those terms.
What this review finds
The product is worth considering if you expect multiple eligible domestic and overseas trips during the annual policy period and can fit every trip inside the chosen maximum duration. Its main practical test is whether the annual format and trip-length cap match your plans. The Gold label alone does not establish the amount payable for a particular claim: the policy wording, benefit table, excess and certificate all matter.

The available Flight Centre PDS dated October 2024 describes annual multi-trip cover at Silver and Gold levels. A separate PDS file carrying code FC_PDS_0225_02 includes an FSG dated 1 April 2025. Because policy terms and role disclosures can change, check the live official PDS and the certificate issued for your quote.

- All insured people must be Australian residents.
- The policyholder must be over 18 when buying the policy.
- The maximum age shown for an insured person on an annual multi-trip policy is 79.
- A policy can cover up to 10 people. A guardian may buy for minor children or grandchildren; children under 16 must be supervised by an adult during a trip.
- Annual multi-trip is listed for multiple trips overseas and within Australia, with trip-duration options of 30, 45 or 60 days for each trip.
- The policy can be purchased up to 180 days before its start date.
The selected duration is a cap for an individual trip, not a total pool of travel days for the policy year. The PDS says cover for a trip ends when the selected maximum duration is exceeded. Compare your longest expected journey with the option shown on the certificate; do not assume a longer trip remains insured because the annual policy is still active.
What Gold cover does—and does not—tell you
The PDS presents benefit amounts as maximum sums insured and directs customers to read the benefit table alongside the policy wording and certificate. Some sections have an excess, generally deducted from a claim payment; an excess may apply per event per insured person. A maximum benefit is not an unconditional payment: the claim must meet the relevant section’s terms and exclusions.

Overseas medical and emergency expenses
For international travel, check the current Gold table for overseas medical expenses, emergency dental treatment and evacuation, then read the conditions attached to each benefit. Domestic cover is separate and does not include overseas medical expenses. Do not use an international benefit figure to describe a domestic trip.
Cancellation
Check the cancellation limit printed for your cover and the event-specific rules in the wording. Do not assume all prepaid travel costs are reimbursed: eligibility depends on the covered event, applicable terms and exclusions, and the limit on your certificate.

Baggage and valuables
Review the total luggage limit as well as individual-item caps, restrictions for items left in an unattended vehicle and any optional increased sub-limits. A high overall baggage maximum may still leave a particular valuable subject to a much lower item limit.
Excesses, activities and medical conditions
Check which sections carry an excess, how it applies to an event and each insured person, and whether planned activities are covered under the policy’s activity rules. Read the pre-existing medical condition provisions rather than assuming a condition is covered because the policy is Gold. Flight Centre says some conditions not automatically covered may be considered through medical screening when buying or during the cooling-off period; the PDS determines the screening process and outcome.
How to judge whether annual multi-trip fits your travel
- List your trips. Include both overseas and domestic journeys you expect during the annual policy period, and identify the longest one.
- Check the duration cap. Match that longest trip to one of the 30-, 45- or 60-day options shown in the October 2024 PDS, and confirm the selected option on your current certificate.
- Check destination-specific needs. For international travel, inspect medical, emergency dental and evacuation terms. For domestic travel, use the domestic benefit table and remember it does not provide overseas medical cover.
- Match limits to your costs and belongings. Compare the cancellation limit with prepaid costs and review baggage item caps, vehicle restrictions and any available optional sub-limits.
- Review exclusions and excesses. Check the policy wording for the activities you plan, medical conditions and the excesses that may reduce a claim payment.
- Get a quote for the actual travellers. Flight Centre says the premium depends on factors including destination, dates, plan, number of insured people and their ages. There is no universal premium to apply to every traveller.
Price, cooling-off and medical screening
The reviewed material gives no fixed annual premium. Flight Centre calculates a quote using trip and traveller details, so a price is meaningful only when tied to those assumptions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFlight Centre’s public page describes a 21-day cooling-off period from purchase. It says a full premium refund is conditional on making no claim, using no policy benefits and not having started the trip. Read the current PDS for the complete cooling-off terms. The page also says customers may apply for additional cover for certain pre-existing conditions through medical screening at purchase or within the cooling-off period; acceptance and cover are governed by the policy wording.
Who stands behind the policy?
The available documents use different role descriptions. The 2025 PDS identifies Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company Limited as the insurer. Its appended Financial Services Guide describes Europ Assistance Australia’s roles in marketing, administration, distribution, claims handling and emergency assistance. Flight Centre’s product page calls Europ Assistance Australia the underwriter and describes Flight Centre Travel Group as an authorised representative distributing and administering the product. Check the current PDS and certificate for the precise roles that apply to the policy you are buying.
Independent benefit figures: treat them as a cross-check
CHOICE’s public profile lists a maximum age of 79, trip options of 30, 45 and 60 days, overseas medical expenses as unlimited, baggage cover of $25,000, travel delay of $3,500 and rental-car excess of $10,000, and attributes the policy to Mitsui Sumitomo. Those are secondary-source figures and may reflect a different edition. The current policy table and certificate control; verify every limit there before relying on a figure.
Verdict
Flight Centre Gold Annual Multi-Trip is most relevant to eligible Australian residents taking multiple trips whose individual lengths fit the selected annual-plan cap. Its usefulness for a particular traveller depends on current limits and exclusions—not simply the Gold tier. Compare the policy’s international or domestic terms with the costs, belongings, activities and medical circumstances involved, and confirm the exact terms and insurer roles in the live PDS and certificate before purchase.
