Fizz is retiring its Visual Voicemail app for Android starting November 13, 2026, but says its voicemail service will remain active. You do not need to take action to keep basic voicemail service; to continue using visual voicemail, check whether your Android phone and phone app support Fizz’s built-in option.
What Fizz is discontinuing—and what stays available
Fizz’s official visual voicemail FAQ states: “Starting November 13, 2026, the Fizz Visual Voicemail app for Android will no longer be available.” Fizz also says: “Rest assured, your voicemail service will remain active. No action is required on your part.” The announcement concerns the Android app; it does not announce the end of Fizz voicemail service or an iOS app shutdown. Fizz describes visual voicemail on iOS as built into iOS.

Fizz has not explained why it is retiring the Android app. Its notice also does not say whether an app already installed on a phone will continue working after November 13, 2026.

Can your Android phone use built-in visual voicemail?
Fizz says Android customers may use their phone’s built-in visual voicemail if the device supports it. The company has not published a list of compatible phone models or dialer apps, so support cannot be assumed for a particular handset.

- Open the phone or dialer app you use for calls and look for a Visual Voicemail option.
- Ask Fizz whether visual voicemail is supported on your exact phone model and dialer. Finding the option on the phone is a useful check, but Fizz’s notice does not provide a compatibility list.
- Confirm that your plan includes the Voicemail option and data, which Fizz lists as prerequisites for visual voicemail.
Fizz’s current Android troubleshooting guidance also mentions correct phone configuration, APN settings, and requested permissions for the existing app. Those checks apply to troubleshooting the current app; they do not establish that native visual voicemail will work after its retirement.
How to check voicemail if visual voicemail is unavailable
Fizz documents dial-in access as the fallback: hold the 1 key on your phone, or call 1-514-647-0999, the voicemail server number. This provides access to voicemail without relying on visual voicemail.

Save important messages before the change
If you have voicemail audio you need to keep, save or share it before the transition if the app allows. Fizz’s FAQ warns that messages on an old Android phone will be lost when the app is reinitialized on a new phone; only new messages received after app reactivation will appear. The retirement notice does not clarify whether messages stored in the app will remain accessible after November 13, 2026, so do not rely on the app as the only copy of important audio.
Fizz says a mailbox can hold up to 35 messages. Its support guidance says unheard messages are kept for 30 days from receipt, listened-to messages are automatically deleted after 30 days, and saved messages remain for 30 days from saving. These are the stated retention periods, not a guarantee that a message can be kept indefinitely.
